My Underwater Adventure Continues

so i was in the one of my LFS (again) today, it happens to be my favorate one so i like to visit and chat (yeah yeah and buy)

so i was looking at the corals and noticed a reduced to clear section of corals that looked less then pleased, after asking i was informed they where corals that didnt look good enough or had been knocking about for a bit, me being me thought some would look great in my tank and picked two of them.

whilst pointing out the first the LFS made a strange noise said "i better find out what that is" and ran off, i thought this was odd as he seemss very clued up. well he came back and informed me that the coral i picked was a duncan, it was closed so i didnt realise.

cost me £15 for about 10 heads. result.

looks like i will be nursing (fingers crossed) this coral back to health.
also got another coral, i know its a softie but the name has slipped my mind, all i can think ATM is duncan!!!!!

just done my weekly bank of water tests all is fine bar one.

i have my first ever ammonia reading!!!! it came in at .25. my fears regarding the lyretail anthias seem to be true as nothing else has vanished. well if he ever turns up it will be a nice suprise, wondered why i havnt seen my shrimpp today, now i guess i know.

ok todays update, still no Iphone so still no pics i am afraid.

the duncan is doing well, it hasnt fully opened yet but a few of the heads ate some flake and they seem to be slowley opening.

the sun coral is still not opening, ive taken to putting it in a bowl once a day and flooding its water with various foods and then squirting food at it, if its feeding it isnt letting me know. i starting to wonder if i can keep suns, do you get corals that just give up? i know some fish waste away for no reason, do corals do it?

i rescaped the tank to give more coral space, it also opened up the sand bed to the sifter is having a great time.

last but not least, with the loss of the lyretail (where it went i have no clue) we added a false gramma yesterday, my partner has had her eyes on it for ages and it was quieter to get it yesterday then had i left it for a week.

Instead of takin him out of the tank:

After lights out use a turkey baster or the like and squirt the water that comes off the frozen food when defrosting over the Sun

then

Use a cut off cola bottle and place over the coral

Flood with brine shrimp

Leave bottle on for fifteen minutes or so

:good:

For the cola bottle, use a 2 litre bottle and cut off the bottom half

mine didn;t do much when taken out but as soon as I moved him to substrate of tank and at night release a bit of frozen food juice in it comes out like clockwork within about 10 mins and then its easy to feed with a pipette although I;m goin gto get a baster as it has a wider pipe

lyretail is defo dead, found a shrimp ripping it appart today, managed to fish it out.
the brown unknown coral is spreading like an std and the duncan is looking better and better each day

Sorry to hear about your anthia, they are a difficult fish to keep unless you can feed several times a day
