My River Reef 94 Marine Adventure!

Yip but mine are brown atm they need good condtions to be pink but should still grow

well got my new tubes today
they are a interpet daylight marine tube and a interpet blue moon actinic

unfortunately got borwn jelly stuff on my torch and thats now in the bin bar a little bit that had split off, fingers crossed the disease won;t spread and the frag grows

skimmer is doing a finejob and taking plenty of crap out the water

so what lights are you using? e.g how many? etc.
alright Harry

its just 2 x 36w t5's

they're the standard ones for the tank

got new bulbs last week

well water test time

mixed about 25 litre of RO myself and tested ph at 8 and calcium at 380 which is better stats than the water in the tank, so this can only help eh!!

In the tank pre change the water was 7.7ph and calcium 260

My nitrate even after water change is still 25!!lighter than the last test though

calcium 300 - bit better
phosphate down at the min level on 0.1

I;ve got some more mixes so will do a 15 litre change on wednesday I think

i dont know if it could help but when i had slightly high nitrates i did a 50% WC and it dropped back down to safe levels....

new coral purchased yesterday, hammer coral ona branches?? theres three small heads and only costme a fiver from the LFS

Sounds like a bargain, usually five pound a head :good:

I think they made a mistake to be honest although I do seem to get things cheaper in there than what they are marked for

just done quick 25 litre change and clean of glass and skimmer

the water I took out hadlower sg than usual 1.023, I've slightly raised what has gone in
the nitrate was 25 which I;m not too disappointed witg bearing in mind its whats coming out after a week
calcium remains a worry at 260
ph improved slightly at 8.0

the water going in ( my mix with salt and ro) had ph of 8.3!! why does it go in higher?
calcium tested 300???
the nitrate of what goes in was 0

so I suppose this means I need to increase water changes? and buy new calcium test kit!!

what salt are you using?
can your lfs test fro cal? because you tanke a sample to them?
i love your tank :good: better than mine :grr:

I agree with our Harry, get all your stats double checked by the lfs :good:

I'm rather surprised at the lower SG, most people have higher sg in this weather as cant keep up with top-offs.

You use a good salt I seem to remember with a calcium level of over 400, it seems very strange to me that your calcium would drop that much  you are keeping up with your weekly water change of approx 20%?

PH alters for the time of day and aggitation of the water in the tank - have you got a nice lot of aggitation going on?

i think your cal test is out of date then  i only do 10% a week and my cal is fine (430) and nitrate is about 10 and nitrite etc are 0. but as i only have soft corals my cal will be high because nothing is using it. when i get some lps and sps i will up the water changes.

cheers Harry very kind words!!

I;m looking for new kits as we speak as I'll look for salifert ones I believe they are decent

My tank looks happier since last nights change especially the fungia its bigger than I;ve ever seen before
