 BIGGER TANK needed I think

your telling me but the reality is no more for now. made a promise to the wife no more till we actually move to a bigger house

I really want to do a reef in a big way like some of the amazing set ups on UR. I just need to sharpen my knowledge about calcium, hardness phosphates etc which is what I;m planning to do in next few weeks and get this one running sweet

The maze is going on thursday night I;m taking that to a local reefer and hes giving me some zoas, mushrooms ,red monti and hysterix. That should improve the look of the tank

I;ve changed the layout of corals now as well for a ducan if I can ever find one locally

CA Mag and KH are easily answered Balling Lite works a charm :good:

Nutreints are the fun part Phosphate and Nitrates hoping these new biopellets are the kiddies as I dont fancy forking out to do Zeo

whats balling lite Morri?

Basically you have 3 containers 1 for mag 1 for CA 1 for KH

You work out how much you use a week then add it to the tank I use a GHL which doses 15 times a day so the stats stay very level

BTW how are your phos and Nitrates looking ?

my phos not too bad but nitrates still too high. I;ve started not adding the jiuce from mysis when i feed to see if that reduces and bought couple more hermits saturday

well I got my carbon today
Eheim Exrak 1 litres worth. Its a bit pricey though eh!!

how much of this stuff are you supposed to use in a small tank like mine

I;ve put about a small glass worth in a net sock in a chamber in tank.

new bulbs should be delivered tomorrow

also my skimmers been running a week and theres something in the cup, just removed it and there was about 2/3 inch of murky yellow water anda thicker trace of this on the bit where the froth collects. what is this and will this help the tank much?

A Golf ball size of carbon would be enough :) but adding too much should be no issue on your tank :)

Cool, thats your skimmer working and doing its job of collecting undissolved organics - heaven

my torch has split since I moved it and a small amount is now seemingly doing well where it fell, I;m just concerned about the state of the main one as there is a strange jelly like blob on the rock its sitting on, its hard to describe hope the pics help

heres a view of how the tanks look now before I oput the frags in there final places
You can see I have moved the finger coral and kenya tree to the top of the tank so they don;t block the view of the smaller stuff I;m sticknig in tonight

I would recomend moving the SPS to the top of the tank as they will need the light :)

Cheers mate
The sps being the hysterix and monti plate and digi? Still learning

I've put them near the top and just had my new bulbs delivered

yeah - SPS small polyp stoney corals.

Id guess that under the right light and conditions that hysteric would be pink :)
