My Rio 180 Betta Tank Journal... Pic Heavy...

she had red gills, and was wobbling lots. tested the waters and everything is normal, but the ph has gone really high, which "makes the ammonia harmful over time" so i'm wondering if because she is so small, its affected her.

shes currently in a glass and seems to have perked up a bit.

i dunno what to do for her, i cant filtrate the glass, and i cant risk putting her back in the tank

my readings are:

no2: <0.3mg/l
no2-n: <0.1mg/l
ammonia due to ph: 0.08-0.18 (if ph was same as water would be 0.009)
ph: betwwen 8.5-9 !

Bless... :(
Sorry to hear this. Id do a 10% water change in the main tank and then try to get ahold of some IAL's to lower the PH. (Thats why they are so important, especially at times like this)

Check the stats again and then go on from there. Hope she pulls through! :good:

what kind of substrate? have you added anything to the tank recently? any source of carbonate (like seashells or the like).
some wood will also lower ph...just dont soak it for ages (ie-let it still have tannins for the water...will lower ph gradually). dont use gimicky stuff like pH down-causes more confusion and params will jump all over the place while you try to adjust the ph.
how long did you acclimate her for? with slow, careful acclimation the pH shouldn't really affect her all that much. she might be stressed over the huge space she has all to herself-esp if she was used to being in with other fishies (even if they DID munch her tail to nothing). could she be having trouble with the filter flow (hence her wobbling..without the majority of her finnage, i would imagine it would be hard to maintain ballance with ANY current, even if tiny).
keeping her isolated for a few weeks is a good idea. her fins will most likely grow back, even if completely missing. clean water (so lots of changes). once she is a little "stronger" i would put her back in the main tank.
best of luck with her-she's a cutie pie.
cheers

I would leave her in the Glass for now, Maybe she has been stressed out because of such a big change, 0.75G to that much could stress her alot.
Wobbling - Has she eaten as she can be a little unsteady after eating, as her weight becomes uneven.

Not trying to be Rude or anything...

But Haych Is a good fish keeper.

( Been watching this topic since i got home... its tragic that she's under the weather... Hope she pulls through :good: it would be bad news for Gill ( since he owned her previously ) AND you to find out she's dead.. Touch wood she'll get better :good: She's a Fab betta )

righto-
just trying to help as maybe it is something they havent thought of.

good luck with her Haych.
cheers

i think its the PH by the look of it so i'll be going creeping back to Aly

shes still alive :hyper:

i have put her glass in my tank to try and keep her temperature stable, and put a fake leaf in with her too. fed her a little too.

to acclimatise i floated her, then dripped water in slowly from my tank using a syringe.

she was ok for a day and a half ish, and i made sure i did a water change that day so she could settle for a while before i had to uproot her again.

i didnt think she's make today tbf

will keep you updated

thanks for your help though Lorax, but she has no tail, it wasnt chomped, i suppose she is disabled!

She Looks nice, Her Fins Will never grow back as there was nothing for them to grow back from, the tail had gone completely. Her Dorsal and Anal Fin act together to propel her in water.

Ohhhh I did not realise you may have wanted silk plants I still have lots of the 12-16" Plants.

And I cannot reccoment Last Trading Post Enough, Some of the best prices you will find and Best Qulaity. I buy all my Bulk lots of Live plants from Him.

what silk plants you got and want cost wise? am on a tight budget lol

how's little flea doing today? any improvement? (and i didnt realize reading the thread that she HAS no tail, not just from injury..poor girl. i hope her story is a good one :)
cheers

yeah shes still alive :hyper:

i'm currently dripping her again, slowly and lengthy so i can get it 100% right.

as i think she isnt going to get much bigger i am going to get her a little space of her own as i think if i get more females she will be killed.
