My Rio 180 Betta Tank Journal... Pic Heavy...

his fins have gone down to look like a VT, but the black horizontal lines that females get is what he had bless him. seems happier now though lol

Nemo is really feisty lol

i bet Soph knew this :p

well, Nemo has COMPLETELY stressed poor Terry out, he has some really bad stress lines, so I have had to move Nemo to the other end of the tank.

i turned off the lights, and Terry's colour has returned 90%, and i just found out that the dividers are tall enough as Nemo just tried to jump with a thud

Really!!! See when they were with me I had the rosetail and 'terry' in a devided tank and he was DEFO the boss!! ( or my rosetail is a compleat wimp)

and I had 'Nemo' housed next to the blue one that went to rob and he never tried to jump! Even when he had to go in a breeder net in the girls tank for a few days (long while ago) to let the old devided tank finish cycling!
Maybe he wants to be boss this time!! :S

And Quick note: the one in my avatar is my HM Musturd gas that I got from kelly called sulpher!!

updates!! :hyper:

i now have silk plants in Terry's and Nemo's section, along with the girls section complete. I am just keeping an eye open for taller plants for Terry and Nemo

terry and nemo have been swapped in sections and they prefer it (there was a massive current trapping poor terry to the edge so i thought it would put nemo in the "higher" flow but they both hated it.

i have since reduced the flow, and they both love their new homes, nemo gets to flare all day at terry so probably would do the girls too, and terry gets to flare or hide behind the heater/pump.

the dividers are filthy already from the plants i bought, so i had to remove them as they all died and rotted everywhere making a HOOGE mess

i have plans (well kev does) of taking the spray bar off, leaving it to flow freely with a piece of sponge over it, as its still a bit violent for the guys that will be in there.

I'm having that problem too - although I can tell which way the water is flowing by watching the algae lol

Looks fab! Love the ornaments in the girls section. Do none of your lfs sell taller plants with long leaves that you could plant?

do you mean real?

they do, but i dont trust them not to die and shed everywhere.

they do sell large silk plants that would look good for £8, i'm just not allowed any =more fishy money yet lol (already spent alot)

tank looks really nice! Great theme too. :good:

About the algea, these homemade dividers are prone to algea, just pull them out one by one, give them a wash with a old toothbrush, and then they are as good as new, your lucky its brown algea not green, because the green algea leaves a slight stain on the divider.

i am NO WAY pulling those dividers out lol, they are an utter cow to get in, let alone fight the sand.

will get either a sponge on them (new and clean obviously) or a toothbrush :good:

Yeh I mean real - I didn't trust real either, but apart from a couple of mishaps it seems to have gone alright and they look really nice! Much cheaper too...

Hi Haych, Must say thats realing looking nice now.

I think you should have gone for plants that require a lower light level, like java fern and such.

But never mind looks nice with the silk ones.

i was thinking of sticking in some real ones (potted).

the person i bought the plants from said they didnt need special lighting and were easy to care for. am quite annoyed as i spent £10 on them to die less than a week later -_-

If you buy potted plants (a quick tip) take off the pots and put them on the bottom two joined together. My betta seems to love sitting in/swimming through them!

I bought mine from Last Trading Post off ebay - 25 for £3.99 and I still have...

*counts*

about 16 of them. I had 3 of one type and 4 of another die, but the pond weed type one has grown so much I've had to split it off again and plant bits elsewhere (good job as the fish keep eating it lol).

Maybe you could try them? The variety they sent was pretty good, and the ones which are still there went through a patch of brown leaves (think that had something to do with keeping them in a bucket for the first week I had them lol) but are doing really well now and I havent done anything special - just put them in with some gravel fert tablets.

thats what i had, pond weed stuff, and i really was conned :-(

will look into what to do next, but as they currently have some form of plants and cover i cant do anything til after new year now
