Oh ok. I assumed that females wouldn't fight. If ever they become violent I can put each one in their own tank. One to a 90 liter and the other to another 5 g. They had them together in the pet shop for months in a similarly sized tank without any issues. I Really should have googled before I bought I guess

They've all eaten well this morning, fed them a few flakes. They are so individual too. the big stripy one is the most reclusive and she hangs out by the filter inlet. The other two seem happy to cruise around ( probably looking for baby shrimp to eat  )

Horizontal stripes mean stress. ;) Good luck with your ladies.

That might be why she's hiding I guess. Hopefully the stripes will go away in a few days. :D

Thanks for the link charlie. I admit I didn't really look too deep into bettas. :S

There are my three ladies. They don't look to flash in the picture but they're very red finned and cool in the real world. :D

Awww, they're cute!

But again, watch them like an overprotective mama bear.. O.O

Thanks Lyra!
Yeah, these bettas will have no private life whatsoever with me around  .
They've begun to show their unique personalities, the big stripy one with blue red fins is the forager and she goes around looking for leftover shrimp pellets among the Java moss. She wriggles under it and sleeps under there.
The smallest one with the really red fins is the alpha, she's always the one to get the food if all three go for it even though she's the smallest.
The medium sized more dull colored one sleeps a lot. Whenever she's not looking for food she will lie down on rocks, moss balls and the ground and have a rest.

Must I feed them betta pellets as they seem to enjoy eating the shrimp pellets more and they leave the ones they're meant to eat alone?
Typical, cost me 4$. :p

Oh man, do bettas have personalities! I was filming Lapis when all the other sorority bettas started shoving themselves into the way of the lens like "Lookit, mom!"

Glad they're all doing well. :D

The bettas were doing great. But this morning when I was changing the water I knocked the filter inlet strainer off. One of the poor little fishies got sucked up the filter I got her out in time but she's looking awful. I've seperated Her into my 20 gallon in a breeder net so she can hopefully recover. I just hope that with her gone the other two don't start fighting.

Her fins are all torn and her colors are off but she's still eating so I am hopeful for a full recovery.

If she recovers would it be unwise to reintroduce her into my little tank? I might have ruined the equilibrium by removing her.

Think would return her to the tank to recover, i have mistakenly sucked up fish in gravel vacs and have had one jump into the filter, I just promptly put them back into the tank, they recover quite quickly.

Of course a bit pale and looking sorry for itself but soon was fine after a while.

Though not sure if the same applies for female bettas as they're a bit different I think.

Fingers crossed though for the little gal.

She had her fins really ripped up,mthey look less than half the size of my other bettas. She's just floating at the top too. Looks really distressed, she wouldn't be able to get food in with the other girls. My other bettas would probably nip at her torn fins too.

Do you have a breeder box by any chance? Like the ones that float, and let water flow through them.
I bet she'll recover. :) Just keep the water clean, as per usual.

Yeah, I meant breeder box. Sorry! :)
She's still with us today but hasn't eaten. Very still. :( I put some leaves in with her and she has found a spot in which to lie in the peace and shade.

Update: I looked again before I went to bed and she was not resting peacefully. Poor gal died today. :-(
Devastated, I've always really liked my 3 little bettas, always so lively and friendly. :rip:
