Snails do produce a lot of waste and I guess if your ram has died then he will be adding to the ammonia load.
What is the ammonia level and the pH? I think there's a formula for working out how much ammonia as opposed to ammonium is in the water. If the pH is acid then it's a smaller percentage whereas the opposite is true if it's more alkaline. I'll see if I can find it - think it's in one of TTA's articles on fish-in cycling

Found it - it was in part II

Thanks for the link mama, I'll check it out on Wednesday when I'm going to test the water.

Tearing my hair out over these snails... Every day I find leaves at the surface of my tank. :(
Dunno if my plants will still exist in a few months time. :shout:

The ammonia has restabilized. On the weekend I want to get my shrimp and a new centerpiece forthe 90 liter. I'm think either another ram or a gourami.
Thoughts?

I rehomed the snails and bought a dwarf gourami, more tetras and some cherry shrimp. :D

Yeah, they're asleep now but here are some I got earlier:

I'm a little worried about the gourami, he swims in this angle /

He hangs around the surface too. Hoping this is just due to stress and will go away

Can't help with the gourami as I don't know anything about them
The tank is looking great now!
How's the leg?

Legs aching and owing, I'm walking around though, tanks are up to a proper standard at last. :yahoo:
All I need now are some kuhlis and I'll call it a job :)

Dwarf gourami died :-( Found him on his side this morning. Poor baby.

So sorry for your loss TT!

Hopefully you'll be able to get some compensation since he died so quickly after getting him.

Thanks guys. It would have been great had he lived on.

I have a new plan and want to know what you think.
The diatoms/ brown algae is driving me up the wall. I want to add otos as I've heard they eat diatoms? Not a must but it'd be nice to scrub less. :p
The flame tetras seem lonely and I want to get more of them if I can.

Would it be ok to have 8 RNTs, 8 FTs, 7 kuhli loaches and 3 otos?

Picked up 2 kuhli loaches today. They only had 2, I'll get more later probably. Here's hopingthey don't disappear forever. :D

How are the shrimp doing, TT? I've had problems with my blue cherries adjusting to the water hardness here (or lack of)

Seem to be doing well mama, I imagine the blues are more sensitive however. :)
