Can they repair? ( not repair - re-pair )
Wouldn't I need to get whole bunch of females and he could pick just one?
Only couple weeks left til I get my legs back. :D

Ok I can walk on Friday ( depending on how X-ray turns out ) but I'm not sure as to what extent. I went up to see my fish today, I currently have 5-6 RNT and 1-2 Flame tetras and the male ram.
The plants aren't looking crash hot, all dead or dying. I'm considering redoing the whole thing bar the fish. :/
Shrimp tank is in some trouble, not many shrimps but the plants look ok. I might redo that too.

I would remove the plants as their decay will just make things worse. Get your friends/family to do your water changes religiously and that will fix 90% of the problem in the meantime. Then you can replant when your leg is better

Your blue ram should be okay for a few weeks, probably lost colour due to poorer water quality. Make sure the temp is okay too.

Sorry to hear about your leg and your fish! Hope there are no more casualties :)

The stuff arrived.
I've done it all up. Looks pretty good. The picture you see is it before the redo. You'll have to wait til tomorrow for the other.
Here's what happened:
My rocks were smaller than anticipated so I kept the driftwood. I got rid of most of the pebbles and added a driftwood with moss and anubias, aponogeton crispus, more swords, new hairgrass, tiger lotus, hygrophila.
Fish are 6 RNT, 2 flame tetras, 1 male ram.
The water is cloudy but fish are ok. :)
I'm happy

Glad you're happy :) Can't wait to see pics tomorrow!

Tadah! Not the greatest pic but you get the idea.
You can see the rock formation in the forward right corner. You can see why I kept the driftwood. :p just too small. The hairgrass on the left looks like little Mohawks poking outta the sand lol.
The fish are bouncing around a lot more now, they have much more hiding spots. :) I'm going to pick up some light timers and mystery snails today or tomorrow.

Only just seen this thread, TT! So sorry to hear about your leg! How did you manage to break it?
Sorry to hear about your tanks too - they were looking so good too!
They are looking better now you've replanted and rescaped. Hope you manage to replace Mrs Ram - such a shame!

Thanks mamashack, had a fall and cracked it. :/
Anyways, here it is today, cleared up a bit and I added some mystery snails 3 big one small:

You can see the yellow goofballs dotted about the tank.
Here are some closer pics of the snails:

Heres a nice pic of the baby:

Here's the rock cave I assembled:

:D
The fish are looking miles better already, the rummynose have such vibrant red noses it's amazing in just an overnight transformation, the rams and tetras are much more outgoing. The ram is slowly regaining his color.
Gonna give them some brine shrimp this morning. A little treat for being so good. ;)
My plan is to get a few more rummynose and 6-7 kuhlis.

The snails are very pretty. Glad everyone is feeling better and regaining their colors, they definitely deserve some brine shrimp! Sounds like a great plan to me :)

Glad everything's moving in the right direction again.
Love your new snails!

I plan to get some cherry shrimp on the weekend. :D

I've noticed my hairgrass is getting a little brown at the tips. It's not life threatening though, I think it'll pull through.
I have decided that mystery snails are NOT efficient algae eaters. But they're so cute. Totally worth it anyways. Scrubbing for me.

What colour cherries are you getting?
I didn't realise until recently how many colours there were - one of my blue ones is in my signature and avatar.
Got amanos too in another tank which are very similar to your Riffle ones - all the females are berried (got one randy male and no-one escapes his attentions! lol), Won't get any young shrimplets tho as I have no intention of setting up a brackish/SW tank. Would be pleased as punch if my cherries decided to breed tho.
Hope you'll post lots of lovely pics when you've got them!
If you want efficient algae eaters try nerite zebra snails - they are relentless! Can see their little mouths rasping up against the glass most of the time!

Sorry guys, all the LFS are out and one is ordering them for me next week, I'll pick them up on Friday.!
Just the normal color, the guy I'm buying them off is kinda scummy so I'm glad that they'll be pretty new when I get them. I know I shouldn't support stores like his with my dollars but it's the only way. :/

Look at it this way, you'll be giving them a better home.

Yeah, true, but he'll just get new ones in.
His shop used to b awesome, but he got old and stopped caring.
I forgot to add that I can't find my blue ram, haven't seen him since I changed the water on Wednesday. He had a gash on his head, I've dosed melafix. The ammonia level has risen. I'm not sure whether this is because of the snails or the ram. :(
