i already have a journal on here but it is not a proper journal many arguments in and not many pictures so i thought i would start a proper one. i got my tank 2 weeks ago today and it has been set up since then with an SG of 1.024, PH of 8.2 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 and Nitrate is <10. in my tank

i have around 4kg of live rock i think it is more on show and 1kg of live rock rubble in chamber 1 in my filter. My tank has cycled and its inhabitats are 5 turbos and 1 red leg hermit. i also have some xenia which i got on my live rock which went from this about a week ago when i got it.

i plan on keeping either a yellow spotted gobie or a clown gobie with a clownfish. i also may add a cleaner shrimp in there. i doubt there will be any additions trhis week unless i get off work early tommorow and bomb down to the aquarium to get the rest of my CUC. if anyone has any suggestions on my tank or what to put in instead that would be great. i am also struggeling on deciding the corals i want to have. the ligght system contains 2 T5 18 watt bulbs and 6 LED blue lights for a moonlight effect. as i say any suggestions on rescaping or corals or fish that would be great.
thanks

i really wouldnt risk a clown with a goby in that sort of system.

the goby may nip at some corals

no its a interpet 50 and is 13 Galons if i am not mistaken or around that.
thats volume without displacement, i would find out the actual volume (im guessing circa 35 litres) for the dosing of meds or buffers etc

thats a nice colony of starburst polyps you have. although i think they are green clove polyps (correct if wrong someone)

didnt realise it was you with your new avitar. ok then well what would you suggest i should have in the tank. i know it is a nice colongy nice shape aswel. i got it for 25 pounds which i think is a bargain. in them photos you dont see its full colour potential but when i turn the lights off and put the blue leds on all the ends of their polyps are flourecent green looks realy cool for about 15 mins then they start to respire. what is a good invertebrate what will clean my gravel and sift through it. i dont have sand i have small marine gravel. i wanted arogonite but forgot all about it and ended up buying this haha

cerith snails might, and more red legged hermits will eat cyno from the gravel.

i would go for a cardinal fish (bit boring)
a small goby (clowns being my favourite and they have bags of personality)
firefish.

you could keep 2 placid fish but not a clown and something else IMO.

on wednesday i will do my second water change. after that has all settled and if parametrs are ok would it be ok to add a few more softies like polyps and maybee a leather or a hammer. i also want some shrooms in there and hawian feather dusters do they just filter or do you have tomouth feed them

are you running a skimmer? i would leave the euphyillia species for abit. feather dusters are filter feeders so soe marine snow will help.

nope no skimmer or sump. wa corals would you recomnd then apart from shrooms and polyps i want something a bit different what isnt too hard to look after

Softies will be fine. I would wait for the tank to be stocked before adding LPS, as they are a tad more demanding of water quality. You will also wnat to get an Magnesium, Alkalinity and Calsium test kit and associated suppliments before moving into hard corals :good:

would you consider hammer corals to be hard. wouldnt leathers be a good idea then i have read that theyj are one of the hardiest

what rabbut means by hard coral is it has a skeleton etc there are 4 main types some say 5

softies, LPS (hammer corals are LPS i believe), SPS, hard corals and some say these have a category azooxanthellae

leathers would be a good idea but there is one species to avoid in a new tank. rabbut? which one is it as memory isnt serving me right now.

i quite like the look of frogspawn coral. i have read a little on it and like its cousins it is highly agressive. however would it be ok if i had the coral in the corner of the tank just where the LR finishes. my petstore never has any in and i dont like buying off the internet. does anyone know where sells it around the Liverpool area.
thanks
