My Managerie of Tanks

Looks like they're working a bit to stay in 1 place, but they must love it or they'd move. I forget how many you have

There are 21 of them :D these guys are always moving around, they like the back of the tank especially but they also come out front when they know it's food time.

Macro lens views of the baby gouramis. Ive lost a couple that weren't growing, that's expected. But the ones that are growing are doing well. Upgraded them to a larger setup today.

Betta tank, more growth, some algae

I hadn't seen my caridina shrimp in several weeks, I assumed betta had a very expensive snack (2 caridina sp, cost $10 each lol) and I'm floored to see one pop up today! Berried too, but I'd doubt any will hatch, unsure because we aren't sure exactly what kind of caridina they are.

Is it the lights making the fry look blue?

A little, but that's part of their iridescent body pigments at this stage. It won't stay like this.

I've been a little MIA these days.

It's a little sad update, but we lost Balloony. Its not totally unexpected, but I'm still bummed about it. I found him stuck to the filter intake, I think perhaps because of his body shape he wasn't strong enough to remove himself.

But Runt is doing fine. He's in with the adults, since he doesn't have another cull tankmate to accompany him with my cull aenea, so I felt he'd be happier with his parents so at least same species. Just means I'll need to be more controlled over spawns from them in the future.

The first 7 babies went to their new home over last week, all together and joined a few more paleatum in their new home so I am very happy with that. The remaining 7 will be coming up with me to Toronto this month. They're gonna take a nice train ride lol.

Last month I had an adult cory somehow injured, I think she may have either had a run in with the wavemaker, or was attacked by one of the chaetostoma if she got stuck in one of their rocky crevices. I questioned if she'd survive, but a week in a hospital tank until she was able to swim properly again, she showed promise... happy to report she's 99% better. Though I don't think her dorsal fin will ever be normal again

How i found her the day of

And now

Amazing recovery. That’s great to see.
What fish can recover from always blows my mind.

I had a lot of doubts, she was in a really bad state and I don't know for sure what happened. I had come home from groceries and found her like that in the tank. Either way, she couldn't swim well, lots of stiff movements and falling around. I honestly thought she was going to die of shock if not the trauma of whatever happened.

Clean water and tannins, plus a small setup so she didn't need to swim around much to get food while recovering. That's all that took for her.

A photo dump for the time being
