Well just a quick update as i seem to have missed a few things.

I no longer have the Kribs, one was constantly harrasing the other to the point where the fish would spend hours hiding behined my thermometer. They were also stressing the rest of the fish through their fighting. With all this i decided to take them back

I also have taken back the plecs, i totally didnt do enough research on these and i couldnt keep up with their mess, as i have black sand its all i could see, every day no matter how much i cleaned.

So my stock is now:

1 x Dwarf Gourami
2 x Ottos
2 x Bamboo Shrimp
15 x Pseudomugil Rainbows
16 x Galaxy Rasbora
8 x Emperor Tetra
8 x Neon Tetra

Also had another small change around

Your tank looks awsome,I like the look of the sand especially.

I'm at the planning stage at the moment for a tank,and I like the look of sand,but was wondering how easy it is to clean?
Ive used gravel before,but never sand - do you use a standard vacuum type substrate cleaner,or is the sand too fine and gets sucked up ?

What do you use to clean the sand ,and is there any special way of doing it?

Any info you can give would be great.

Im finding it fairly easy, i had gravel before, and i prefer sand. Any waste stays on top, but with gravel it falls in between. Im just using the same gravel cleaner and hover it just above the sand. Seems to work fine

I was the same with my old tank, I thought "live plants, effort... ermmm I'll go fake!" haha.

But belive me, you can get some great looking live plants that require no effort at all and will look great in that tank.

Can't wait to see updated pictures with the drift wood in bud

Well i decided to have another change round for the tank. Whilst i liked the previous set ups, the way the Fluval Edge is designed, they were difficult to work with.

The log thing that i had in there in the above photos made some areas of the tank hrd to reach with the gravel vac, which ment having to move it every now and again, and because the tank is so small the fish would always end up mega stressed.

I obviously didn't want this so brought some new things. Now they may not be to everyones taste on here, but if life is easier for the fish and me and i can keep the tank cleaner i don't really care. The fish really seem to love the new log and have been in and out of it loads, they are also spending more time at the front of the tank which is a good sign.

Honestly, live plants are the way to go. More effort, yes, but totally worth it. The fish love it as well. Mine have never been as happy as they are now I have planted my 50g back up.

Alright mate, thought Id return the favour and take a look at your log.

i think I saw this a while back, I do really like the substrate and backgorund, I reckon it makes this tank what it is, if you understand what I mean..

I agree the wood looks much better, I also think live plants would look great mate, absolutely set it up nicely. If I was you I would go for plants similar to what Im gonna use, Swords, Vallis, Crypts and Anubias, all great low tech undemanding types...

On ebay you can get around 10 swords for like £7-8, although they will be smaller than from the LFS

This is a good looking tank no doubt... But I can see only 6-8 small tetras in there? The wood looks good the fake plants look good but you need some more fish life in there. Get some more fish then post some more pics plz!
