Hi Guys!
We suffered our first ever loss today... Blueberry the Male Guppy has died...
I'm absolutely gutted!
So here's the story...
I haven't done a water change for 2 days as my little boy has been unwell - but as I've been doing a fish-in cycle for over a month now (I know!! Followed LFS advice, turned out they were morons - didn't know what "cycling" was til I found this place!) I didn't think it would have too much of an effect.
Did some water tests earlier to find the Ammonia and NitrIte levels were up a bit so I did a 40% water change and added some ammonia remover! Up until this point all the fish were fine...
2 hours later I notice little Blueberry wedged down beside a rock... I tapped the glass a little and he shot away from the rock and landed belly-up on the bottom of the tank... I was devestated!
So I immediately set about another set of water tests -
pH - 7.8
Ammonia - 0
NitrIte - 0
NitrAte - 5
I don't know where little Blueberry has gone now - I have a couple of shrimp in the tank so I'm hoping they haven't found him...
Has anyone got any idea's what's happened here? Could it have been the cold water from the water change? Maybe the ammonia remover??
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
