Did you use established media from another tank? That cycle looks amazingly fast. What are nitrates showing?

I'm wondering what kind of kit you are using to test the water. Is it strips or a liquid test kit? Also, are you doing this test every single day?

Started from scratch, using API test kit haven't got the nitrAte kit yet so dont know results Must be some thing wrong going very well I thought, also need hp test kit.
Yorkshire water best around. Testing at 5.00pm every day.

If everything is going well I would expect your nitrates to be on the rise, as well. It's another indicator you can check.

OK thanks, Just ordered the API fresh water master testing kit might show whats going on.

Also I got the tank off ebay the gravel was still wet and in the tank, filter was packed in the box, it had been like this for over a week before I set the tank up, I washed the gravel and change the filter pads so I doubt there was any biological stuff left.

Guppi - that ammonia looks closer to zero to me, but it could just be my computer monitor. Looks great! I think the concensus forum recommendation is, once your ammonia and nitrates are processing to zero within 12 hours (meaning you are dosing ammonia every 24 hours and testing every 12 hours), then you probably want to go for a qualifying week - 7 days of doing the same dose 24 / test 12 to make sure everything stays settled.

With the API test kit? Something is either wrong with your kit, or perhaps you are making a mistake (doubtful), or your pH is WAY out of whack.

I have noticed that it can have a bit of a red tinge when between 8.2 and 8.4 but not red.

ill post up some pics tommorrow just like guppi has, but the test does seem to be coming out as read... 5 drops of HR PH and lightly shake to mix
