But no one has answered it. It has got really bad now and i am fighting a mini-cycle still (due to kanaplex).

He is no longer biting as i am doing two 50% changes a day but it is still receding with a nasty red tinge.. that part of the tail is under a third of what it was. I really need help now so please can you answer this thread.

I have used over 3-4 months,
Disease clear by King British, which made him act funny so i took it out.
Melafix, did not do much
Kanaplex which did stop it but afraid to use it again due to mini-cycle
Now i am using interpret antifungus and finrot (no.8)and the receding has happened during this so i believe is not working (i'm about 3 days in of the 7 treatment and topping up with lost medicine from water changes).

Between i checked the water quality (all 0,0,30) until the kanaplex which caused a mini-cycle.

I've tested the water and its ammonia 0, nitrite under 0.25 (fluctuates due to water changes, so right now slightly purple) and nitrate 30
All the rest of the info has not changed from the previous post.

I know its not good to medicate whilst it is still cycling but as i saw the tail recede again i just jumped into action, if anyone else can tell me what to do i would be really thankful. Just clean water is not doing anything either, it has gone too far now.

Do lots of water changes and maybe put in a little aquarium salt.

I agree water changes will be your best bet. Make sure the water temp is nice and warm for the betta.

If there is nitrite in the water, that will not help him heal. Seachem Prime works great against nitrite. If you have it just try double dosing during water changes.

Does salt make him ill? It has done wonders for me at times. I once had a fish with internal hemorrhage that was looking very red and bloody and covered 1/3 of the fish's body, also one of it's fins was rotting with white edges too. The hemorrhage was nearly gone 2 days after I started with salt. The fin took several more days. Salt will neutralize the nitrItes too. Maybe he didn't like it because you put too much salt? For the size tank you have(26L?) one tbsp for a start should be fine. You can add another one the next day and watch.

Thank you for the reply :)

Yes salt does make him ill, i did use one tbsp and his face slowly went white over the period i gave it (it was my first attempt at fixing the finrot and using it during an unfortunate fish in cycle) and did not move around as much, sort of sluggish.
I've given up on my filter for now and i have moved it to a bucket to cycle through on it's self (i feed it). I am doing 100% daily changes now and using correctly dosed antibiotics as after this post i lost about 0.5cm in one night..

Luckily its now healing very slowly and evenly but in any case if this comes back i will resort back to the aquarium salt. I am keeping the water overly clean right now as you guys said.

Thank you again :)

I fear it is your water changes that are not helping the situation. With the interpret fin rot meds they advise you don't change the water for 7 days after dosage. The fish might look worse during this time but the meds need to take a hold. All changing the water does is removed the meds hence a constantly sick fish.

I am not using interpret anymore due to the water changes :) i am using antibiotics

I'd suggest using Myxazin instead, and maybe only doing 50% w/cs every other day? As long as you don't overfeed him his waste shouldn't build up very quickly, but someone correct me if I'm wrong! :S

Kanaplex is working ok right now but thank you for the recommendation as myxazin (after looking up)seems easier to get hold of than the others. If kanaplex doesn't finish the job i'll look into it, nice to have another option as it seemed like i was running out of options if this one didn't work.

Thank you :)
