My betta fish community tank

Okay, I've always wanted a huge tank with lots of betta fish (at least over 100 gal), but it's quite remarkable to have pulled it off with a 30, or a ten as he has done.

I was worried about my female betta and the guppies getting along, there is no way I would ever try males and females in that small space :S . But then again, progress is yielded only by experimentation and change, no?

Interesting project. It would be interesting to see if someone else who has lots of years experience with bettas (as in not me!) could reproduce it.

Sooooo, pictures any time now? Tonight, was that the consensus? I am very anxious.

Dazzle - I'm intrigued.... what makes you say that?!?!?!?!?

EDIT: Hate to say this but is anyone beginning to doubt the trueness in this post?

Will readily admit I'm new to forums and the like but I reckon you've more chance of being bitten by a giraffe than seeing these pics

If this is for real I'm as intrigued as everyone else. If not, then what a pointless way to annoy people.
Hugs,
P.

Mr. Betta Community guy!! You have a lot of people doubting you now!!
IF this is real it would be a good idea to post pictures ....well...... NOW!!

personally i am starting to really doubt it :/ It could be true but i dont think so.Especially not in a 30gallon and i think it is even more unlikley that they are breeding.
but well see when pics come.IF they come

I have stuff to do today, I said I'll post them tonight and I will.

jeez.

:dunno:

My feelings exactly  When I first read this post, especially with it being a first post here, I found it rather odd and suspicious. Almost a bait to rile everyone up and I honestly can't say how glad I am that this is being handled the way it is :)
You guys rock. This could have turned ugly a few pages ago :S

ughh. I feel really, really nauseous all of a sudden. If you want a community tank, get a few pairs of beautiful Betta Imbellis, or start a female splenden tank... dont just throw together a bunch of males and females and wait to see which ones survive. To me, what this guy is doing is MUCH worse than the dumb kids who put Wal*Mart Bettas in jars together and let them kill eachother, because he has researched it and he knows the aggressive nature of Betta splendens, yet he's happily allowing them to rip each other up for the sake of his own amusement. Its sick. :grr:

If this is really true... and he's allowing them to SPAWN in there, OMFG. He is going to have a ginormous mess on his hands! If 5 females spawn, there could potentially be 1000 fry swimming around in a 30 gallon tank with 10 adults. How many of those fry will survive? Does he care? No.

mrrr. anyway, Im done with this, its making me way too sad and angry. OP, please consider removing the males into their own nice, 1+ gallon tanks and build a nice female community in your 30g.

I don't know if this is some kind of joke, but that is horrible to say the least. Those fish are ripped up, big time! And there's not even any cover or ....anything. I don't see how you can exactly call this a life for them. They're barely surviving, let alone thriving -_-

So why, I ask, would you come here and post a topic insinuating that you have apeaceful male community, when clearly you do NOT?!?
A picture say's a thousand words, and I can think of a few choice words rght off the top of my head when I see those fish

Explain. You wanted to talk about it, so let's. Why don't you have any caves or heavy cover? How much "thought" did you really put into this habitat?

:/

They look a bit chewed on to me. But that is just my opinion. Why is the water so cloudy? Thank you for the pictures, Mr. Shums. I can't wait to get my camera phone and send pictures of my guys. Fafner's building a bubble nest :D. He is happy. I am content.

Ok the pictures have been posted! You were telling the truth but these pictures obviously show that you are having no succes at all with that setup! Its evidently there that there is continous bickering because of the fins of every betta in that tank, they all have torn fins and its a miracle that you only have had 3 deaths :/ :/ If you have any consideration for those fish you will remove them immediatly because your 'experiment has been a failure'and it will soon be a massacre if you do not end it now.

MrShum,
If you plan on trying this, please try a different style of decor -_- Gah, at least get them things to hide in and whatnot. For now I wish you would just seperate them :/

I'm sorry to say this but.....yes congratualtions...they are all in there...however, they do not look happy and I would not call this a success.
I'm so sorry to say it but please please please please take them out...if you think that is better than having them all in jars (not that that is what WE do here) then I think you are wrong. Please take them out.... good on you ....... well to an extent, for trying something original but I do not believe these fish are happy. There is not even any where for them to hide and get cover. Please take them out...please....... for their sake.
They have got to be REALLY hurting and stressed in there.
