I am a big fan of John Cleese. I loved the oh to short Fawlty Towers. I own one video - it is a disc with all the episodes of Fawlty.

But this is a fish site after all.

Just one scene in "The Life of Brian" stands out for me.

The camera goes up the street past a Begger who had cut off one leg and he was collecting money, when the camera came back down the street the Begger had cut off the other leg and he had pills of money.

For some reason that always described how stupid humans are.

You’re only seeing the good stuff. 90% of U.K. TV sitcoms are brain numbing unfunny rubbish. Faulty Towers, Porridge, Blackadder, Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads, Steptoe and Son, Rising Damp, Monty Python etc etc live on because they were good and not lowest common denominator crap.
The lowest common denominator stuff from similar eras has been confined to history’s dustbin. Thankfully.

MASH, Cheers, Frazier, Soap, Benson, Taxi etc were bloody good stuff as well.

The hardest Ihave ever laughed inmy life was when I was in London for a week. We went to the theater twice. We saw a play called Noises Off. The Brits are the masters of slapstick. After all, they gave us Charlie Chaplin.
