Money No Object....

Neapolitan mastiff but i love my staff to much so im extremely happy with my beloved dog :)

I saw an English Bull Terrier like that last time I was at the dog show. Incredibly thick, well built dog, larger than you would think when you are up close.

I've always liked the smaller terriers, price has never been much of a concern as much as working with a breeder who does things properly & ethically. Seeing as these guys live 15+ years, I'd need another 60 years, probably more, to experience all the ones I would like.

Since I've has a Westie & a Cairn, a Scottie would fit in the plan. These are said to be one of the more free thinking, bull headed difficult breeds to train, I like that.

Along with a Scottie, there are a couple of older, not well known breeds my wife & I have looked into, the Skye Terrier, & the Glen of Imaal Terrier. Both of these are tough to find, lucky to see one or two at a large AKC event. We always talk it up with the breeders & handlers when we see these breeds. I've yet to see one outside of a show.

That's possible! My great grandfather was a coal miner in Pennsylvania, many Scots immigrated to that area.

My ultimate dog would be a super pedigree english bull like the one in the pic, beautiful dogs but having kids I wouldn;t take chance

they are great as are staffs to be fair but as a parent now I wouldn;t take the chance of one turning and damage they can do .my basset could do the same but its just one of those over protective things you do a a parent

they have got a really bad reputation because they were used as fighting dogs and a lot of '' street gangs'' and well chavs had them and abused them. they are pretty quite dogs but like any animal, wind them up and they will snap!

Wouldn't it be interesting to know, how strange would that be if your love of those scottish terriers came via your genes :hyper:

Give me a cat any day
hehe.gif

that is how i think, i prefer cats over dogs, anyday

but i do miss Simba (at times)

we went for a labrador for the family/loyalty side but it didnt work.

if we had another dog and money/behaviour wasnt an issue, i would have a ***** retriever. more loyal and absolutely gorgeous.

Kev would have a husky. i personally dont trust them. theyre far too close to the wolf gene. i know someone who had akitas, also very close to the wolf gene and EVERY one of them turned at some point.

in a few years when the kids are older, we would like a king charles spaniel. something that cant take us for the walk

I did say That the Bull Terrier tops my most "unwanted"....Sorry... I withdraw that statement... Has anybody ever had a Bedlington terrier........Wow!!... now that is bad news!,,, it looks exactly like a little lamb, but it has the temperament of a commodo dragon... I cannot imagine why anyone would want to keep one of them....

Bedlingtons are one of those breeds that have a rather unusual show clip, Dandy Dinmonts being another. Most people have seen a poodle in show trim, since it is more commonly seen it is not thought of as being so unusual.

Any terrier will turn into a nasty little dragon of a thing if not properly trained, this is all too common in smaller breeds. I can't see bedliingtons being the exception, but I could see the show groomed lamb look alike being deceiving.

"A wolf in sheep's clothing"... Now I know where that saying originated.

I have my dream breed....a Great Dane  . But my ultimate dream was to have two of them....which now I have :good: I absolutley adore them, they are kind loyal and loving. Reasonably easy to train....it only takes about 200 repitions  I had my first Dane Floyd for 11 years and one month...he was my heart dog and helped my through so much, especially the break down of my 14 year relationship....he was a true friend [miss you baby boy].
Then came Lola....then Sam....and from now on in it will always be Danes in my life.

Seffie I used to have a rescue Dobe called Kane....he was amazing!!!! I've never trained a dog like him before or since! Most times I didn't even need to give him a command....he just knew what to do....he was quite spooky really!

I love cats too, have two of them currently, trying to decide if I want another one.

I looked into getting a GSD, but with me being single and getting ready to go back to 12 hour shifts it just wouldn't be fair at this point. One day though.

If I ever were to get a smaller dog it would definitely be a Scottish Terrier, I just love their angry old man faces.

I'm surprised the Pyrenean Mountain dog has not been mentioned.... They are beautiful, but unfortunately the South African climate is not ideal to keep them.... Anybody got experience with those??

I love just about every breed but, honestly, I would rather have a mutt then a purebred. Ya know, 'hybrid vigor' and all that. I know that's not always the case, like when you a mix a chihuahua with a mexican hairless  , but when the right genes are mixed :good: Also, I'd want to rescue a dog. I rescued my cat and he's my best buddy even if he can be annoying at times. He meows like no tomorrow and acts like he's starving all the time.

If I had to pick a breed, I'd pick probably either a Siberian Husky, Daschund or a Pit Bull. Maybe even a rottie. My dad and his ex had a Siberian Husky when I was a kid and she was the sweetest thing. To people at least. We did have a bit of a problem with her wanting to eat our cats. But she was very good around us kids and I only remember her nipping a friend once but that's cause the friend didn't know how to treat a dog and was provoking her. Tausha was also extremely gorgeous. She had that fawn colored coat with the white and ice blue eyes. I loved her so much. I know huskies take a bit of work but you have to be willing to put effort into the training of any dog, no matter the breed.

My grandma has daschunds and she breeds them. They're like big dogs in little dog bodies, which I love. And I think it's cute the way they're low to the ground and have those thick little legs. The black and tan colored ones are my favorite.

Rotties and Pits are sweet and loving and I always believe it's the owners not the breed. Of course, I'd make sure to start training at an early age and any dog I get would have to come from a reputable breeder if not from a rescue. If from a rescue, I'd probably pick only the good tempered ones since I don't have that much experience training yet.

Again, it's the owners not the breed that make bad dogs.

Edit: Oh, and maybe a labrador. Those are good dogs. Can you tell I'm having trouble picking a breed?

I once had 7 Siberians (dumped) at the kennels... where the owner said he wants to put them in my care untill some future date, when he is ready to come collect them... After 7 months, he just dissappeared with no forwarding address, so I had to find a new home for them and as popular (and beautiful) as they are... I could only find homes for 2 of them... the rest had to be euthanazed.

What was interresting about them, though, is how they formed their packs in hirarchy and even included me and my wife (and my children) in the stance.... on all accounts, I was considered the primary figure, whereas my wife & kids fitted somewhere in the lower ranks....

I allowed them to roam the yard once every day, and they moved around as a pack.... if one of the smaller ones fell behind... the leader would stop and let it catch up with them... Also they did not have a true barking, but more of a howl... like wolves...

Trully a beautiful animal (those eyes are so penetrating) and I can recommend them.
