Does Melafix affect water test results?

I have just checked the water quality 2 days after a water change and the amonia has gone up to 0.1mg/l and the nitrite has gone up to 0.2mg/l. Before the water change and before using melafix the results were zero!

Was you tank completely cycled before you added melafix

Yep, the tank has been up and running for 3 months without any spikes once it had cycled.

I have started having lots of deaths which appear to be bacterial caused hence the use of melafix.
