Mature Tanks

But in your signature it says "4 months till possible anemone"...

Why do you still think this? At the very least keep it to your self and don't darken other threads with your unfounded opinions (and belittlement) which are next to useless and hardly worth any respect... it frustrates me further to know that you are drawing some insane sense of moral superiority from all this...

Well I'm off to Reef Central to see if they can explain it to me... look for me on there if you visit that forum.

because i want an anemone.....

I never said you couldnt keep tangs, i never said you couldnt keep anemones, i just think that they deserve more care.

I plan on upgrading soon, 4 months is pretty much the number (christmas break, if i cant make it then i will wait till easter)

have you seen what people do with anemones and tangs? Scratch that, have you seen how people take care of fish/inverts in general, sure there are many people like you and most people on this forum who take great care of their tanks and fish, but the ratio of bad carers are much higher. Am i a peta member? No, but i do agree with some of their thoughts, but not how they carry it out nor how they are hypocritical. Heck if i had any control over it i would ban the hobby to the public and you would need a test and a license to take care of fish and all animals for that matter.

I suppose, but that has nothing to do with tangs "needing" huge tanks. Rather, you could say, "while this fish could survive in a sixty gallon tank, it would be best to give it more space in the future, and doing so may help it avoid stress or disease and live longer". Doesn't that sound like a vastly more helpful response?

I will say it again: belitting people on the grounds of your unfounded beliefs will not help the person nor the fish one bit. Not at all. Believe me, I have experience on this one.

if i said that, would it make you happy, and stop you from doing everything you can to change my opinions and beliefs? If yes, then i will say that, if no, well, i guess nothing changes.

Yes for Christ's sakes! I have nothing against you personally and share many of your beliefs. I am looking out for the fish and other people on this one. Of course I still pity you for not being able to add a tang to your own tank when you upgrade (assuming it stays under a hundred gallons); they are sweet fish; but if you keep your unfounded opinion to yourself (mostly) then I do not have any issue with you what so ever.

So, resolved?

nice of you to finally answer his question from page 2

interesting dissucion again, i think i may sign up for lynden and musho posts together there always full of interest!! im getting a 125 gal tank, which is only 5foot i wanted a clown tang but fear the tang police will come knockign at my door with a plastic bag and a net to steal it away :(

you got to admit though musho in comaparision to the oceon nothings good enough, and would you rather a large tang is sold to someone with a 4foot tank and a willingness to care or kept in a tiny tank at a lfs not selling.

everything has different situations though! ive refused tang sales before knwoing they dont have large enoguh tanks at 3 foot or 2 foot!!!

i may get 2

i may also visit your tank one day! im calling in a few people to do mine! i cant even make a flat pack blimmin aq3 tank stand let alone a metal frame bolted to a wall to hold 470 litres of water and 60-80 kilos of live rock! also got to do the sump, im so awful at diy its unbelivable.
