Managing Games

Borussia Dortmund v L.A Galaxy Post Match Conference

Q: Finally a win for Dortmund?
A: Yes, my first win at the club, the first of many i hope.

Q: New signings Fernando and Cristian both had great game?
A: Yeh they did they were the heart of the team, if you can control midfield then you control the game. with these two you can achieve this with ease.

Q: It broke in the news before the game that it looks like David Beckham is on his way to Dortmund, however £20 million at 33 is that the right price?
A: Of cource its money well spent. I would have loved to get him for less, but sometimes you have to pay over the going rates to get that something special, which David is. Like i said if we control midfield we control the game.

Q: Bilbao next, can you win?
A: No doubt about it cource we can win. If David arrives in time for the game then we should command the game even more if he plays.

Q: David Healy once agin scored your only goal, will he start against Bilbao?
A: I will speak with both Matias and David in the morning and then decide who starts.

Q: Also in The Sun news paper it claims that England Legend Paul Gascoinge is set to become your assistant manager is this true?
A: Yes it is true Paul will be become my assistant as soon as he storts things out, I expect him to be here in a weeks time. Until then well have to make do.

Q: And lastly £62.9 million already spent if David comes to the club, will that be the last of the transfers?
A: No, certainly not i have other players in my mind and have still £25 million left if we get beckham, so no i wont have finished. There will be more people coming in.

I'm just waiting for Estudiantes to accept my offer of a friendly on the 27th and then all 6 teams involved have a fixture, the only promblem we have then is the week after the only 2 teams without a game are me and estudianted again. So i guess they will just have to offer me a game on this date so i have played both home and away against them already.

If someone draws up a fixture list for home and away games for everyone then we can get this tournament on the roll, i'd say count tonights results just as friendlies not the tournament as not everyone was playing etc. I might make up a fixture list later tonight when i wake up with the baby ;)

Which teams do i have to invite for the tournament?

"Alan Hansen stated his belief that Pletikosa had been "the best goalkeeper in the (UEFA Euro 2008) tournament" thus far, ahead of more established 'keepers like Petr Cech, Gianluigi Buffon and Iker Casillas, although his colleague Alan Shearer said that Edwin van der Sar had been equally impressive"

That's my keeper hopefully he get 90 or over now :D

I'm pretty sure your side has two fixtures already set up it's just simonas i'm waiting on :)

Yea a few players that have done well at 2008 will sureley get an increase

Jean Makoun signs for Spartak Moscow

William Gibson does it again beating a host of clubs to the signature of Makoun. It was expected that Makoun was headed to Juventus or Arsenal this summer but Gibson waved his magic again.
Speaking in a interview Mokoun stated that after Gibson came in and told him his plans and passion for s.moscow there was only one place he wanted to go although Mokoun is carrying a slight knock and wont feature for a a few weeks he can't wait to pull on the shirt.
This is now the 3rd signing for the new manager but speaking to the flamboyant manager he was upset about his failure to land a star striker and is now on the look for loan forwards to help fill the gap.

Another good signing you've made there a pity about the injury but still a good player, he was one player i was considering signing before i got torrado but he was a little more money than i could afford at the time.

Predictions for tonight on the way

another thrashing fdor me boo hoo :

TFF Predictions: Tonights games should be a little closer than last weeks with the teams being closer together in rankings and so on

Spartak Moskva 2 Vs 1 FC Nurnberg - I think you can pick up your first win tonight

Porstmouth 1 Vs 1 Dinamo Zagreb - Porstsmouth aren't a bad side and playing away won't help, i think you can claim a point.

Athletic Bilbao 0 Vs 2 Borussia Dortmund - Game is for the taking even away from home although i did draw with this not long ago

Estudiantes 0 Vs 3 Middlesborough - Boro are looking for promotion and i don't see your team stopping them right now

Feyenoord 2 Vs 0 Lille - I expect to keep my top of the table position tonight with a comfortable win over my frech opposition

America 1 Vs 1 Toulouse - The frech side are the draw specialists and this is how i see this one ending but a point here is hard to get

I think we have 2 more games each before there a few double bill games we were tee off against each other for points which will be added fun. Looking at the table Toulouse + Dinamo have possibility of pushing for a late promotion place although it would be a miracle in some respects

I'll see if I can spring a suprise with my tactical changes and new forward pairing up front of Manucho and Mantorras :shout:

Jose Sand's agent has contacted manager Dan Walmsley about a possible move to the club. It is no secret that the argentinian ace is one of feyenoords summer transfer targets but soccer manager news can exclusivley reveal that spartak moskva have made an indisclosed bid with the forward possibly being available for the spartaks next game. Manager Dan had to say 'Spartak will appeal to Jose considering the restructuring being done at the club under the new manager and we will watch this transfer very closely.'

Got 3-4 moves in process atm. Don't think any will be done before tonight's match though :(

Athletic Bilbao v Borussia Dortmund Pre Match Conference

Q: Last night you said that you would decide who would start along side Bojan, who will it bE?
A: I thought long and hard about this last night and have chosen that Matias will partner Bojan, David will be on the bench.

Q: How did David take this?
A: Very well, he knows that he is at the moment 3rd choice, but if he carries on like he does then i will have no choice but to put him in the starting 11.

Q: Talking about David weres David Beckham, wasnt he suppose to sign today?
A: Yes he was but theres been a little snag. He wont be joining today but we are still hopefull for tomorrow.

Q: So whats the score going to be tonight?
A: A Dortmund win 2-1.

Q: So you are confident about the win then?
A: Yes 100%, after the result against L.A, which we should have had many more goals, we can not fail to score. We can score we just need to defend a little better.

Q: And Lastly, if you dont win tonight the chairmen wont be very happy will he, Three games no win and £43 million spent on players?
A: No he wont, but he wont be the only one. I will be extremely unhappy if we fail to get at least a point. Should be three. Yes Bilbao won their last game but in both of our games we have had the most shots and the most on target. Against Feyenoord we were very unlucky not to get a least a point if not all three and against Rennes we should have walked away with another point, as we didnt play as well as we could have. Thanks that all.

A few questions. I have key players comming back Makoun is 58% and two of my best defenders on 66%. Will they be ready for wed game? the 3 players are at lest 7 points of improvement in total. And if sand signs today that's 8 more. Hopefully that transfer goes though today Zargreb give me a quick scare :D

Spartak Moskva snap up talent

This morning Willaim gibson signed Striker José Sand from Lanús and up and comming Left Back Edgar Castillo from Santos Laguna.

Sand has scored 22 goals for Lanus from 28 matches and soon caught attention from teams across Europe. Gibson was over the moon with this signing and went on to say Sand was just born to score and will be going stright into the team and that have finaly Moskva have found a replacement for Rusian hotshot Pavluchenko who the club was forced to sell back in November.
Castillo will add much much steel and pace to the Moskva back line. The 21 year old has just recently played for his country and scoing in just his second match for Mexico

Followed up with another couple of good signings there, everyone else has been a little quiet on their post match conferences?

I think it was another bad night overall for our dedicated managers. It will come but it takes time no doubt i'd be pretty fed up without a win by now but i walked into a good team so didn't have half as much work as you guys have had so keep it up, it will come!

I think players generally get around 10% fitness per day but the general rule is a player below 95% on match day won't have a game as good as he would have had over 95%. I'd say those 2 defenders should be ready but makoun is a gamble you could play him, who are you up against? It depends who your up against which could help your decision
