Luc's First Planted Tank

Remind me how large is your big tank.

It is just a small tank, 24"X12"X12"

Oto's sometimes eat green algae though they perfer brown algae. http://www.fishpondinfo.com/photos/crustac...rimp/amano4.jpg amano shrimp, not mine, found it on google http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/speci...p?species_id=49 bristlenose pleco, good at removing algae if your tank is large enough.

Tank looks good, plants seem to be filling out well, any chance of a full tank shot?

Thank you for the suggestions and pictures. I am not sure whether my LFS is selling amano shrimp or not but I did have a red colour shimp, but I still not sure what's its name. Will post a picture of the red shrimp (haven't got a chance to take picture of this beautiful shrimp).

Two pictures of my shrimp, Not sure is this called Red Cherry Shrimp, correct me if I am wrong. Pardon me for the poor picture quality.

I have changed the CO2 mixture for 2 tanks. Shifted the water outlet to the most right of the tank and shifted the CO2 diffuser to the left of the tank instead of right. Can see that now the tank is circulate in a better way. :)

Looks nice :) the riccia has certainly grown!

Sam

Yeah, it is growing healthily. My tank is 24"X12"X12" and the lighting is T5 2X14W, about 1.75WPG. Thinking of increase the Wattage of lighting to make the riccia pearl (I have CO2 kit). :)

Will update when the light tube has changed. :)

Thanks Sam.

Bought 4 shrimps this afternoon, 2 red cherry shrimps & 2 unknown shrimps (according to the LFS owner, she said this shrimp could help to eat some of the hair algae). It looks bigger compared to red cherry shrimp, about one and a half inches (Will check and update the name). Happy to see them exploring the new tank, and hope they could really help to keep the tank clean. :)

veey nice, your plants seem to be doing well. i love your crystal snail-ive never seen one before and its looks amazing how big do they grow? i will google them later

The crystal snail is an ornament, not a live snail!

Yeah, Neal is right, it is just an ornament. heee... ;)

After seeing so many people on the forums being sold macrobrachium at their lfs, i would be pretty weary of buying any shrimp i couldn't identify, however since your lfs said it would eat hair algae, it sounds like you got some amano shrimp, which are great! .

Yeah, I think its name is called amano shrimp. The LFS owner told me that name. Before I bought it, I observed it's activity in their tank, it really plucking off some small hair algae and eat. 3 red cherry shrimps and 2 amano shrimps in my tank are living happily and very actively moving around the tank. :)

Really love them. :)

I have added some plants and an oto into my tank today. Will take some pics tonight and share tomorrow.

The new oto is swimming happily in the tank and thrill with the algae in tank. :)

Nice tank and shrimps.. :good: :D

Too bad my lfs does not sell cherry shrimps :/ :/

But anyways.. I can't wait to see the new pictures :D

Thank you dude, which part in Malaysia are you staying? I am in Puchong, I got the shrimps from the LFS here. They do sell red cherry, amano, crystal. I really like the red cherry as it is small in size and after they moult, they look even redish. Nice to see them moving around the tank, very active. :)

While amano shrimps, they are bigger in size, I got them to help me to clear the algae for me.

Will post the pictures tomorrow... :)

You are most welcome :D

I'm at Penang, there isn't much fish stores around here, only two major ones and I have not seen any other shrimp apart from 'algae eating shrimp' (amano?) being sold at those places. :/ :/
