Hey

Over 2 days ago i lost a female and a male guppy, i have a water kit and the water is fine. I went and purchased two more, However one died last night and another one has lost all colour and it lieing at the bottom of the tank, moving, but stuck to the floor. Do you think i can save this fish?

I have no idea why i have suddenly started losing guppys!

What were the readings you got when testing the water please?
Have you added anything to the tank lately or any recent water changes?

Hello

The readings are:

Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrate - 0ppm

I did a 25% water change yesterday because of the new Guppy that died, and have had a new eheim filter installed for 3-4 weeks.

Should i put some melafix in?

Think i have lost him though...

The males could possibly be killing each other for the females. I know they will shred each others fins to nothing. How many of each gender are left?

I purchased two females at the weekend and they both died.... I think

Looking at my pics, can you identify a female?

Thanks

Second one looks like a guppy cross platy lol
Defo check your nitrites with a test kit.
When adding new fish to the tank I test the water they come in and compare it to the tank water to see if there are any issues.
How did you add the new fish to the tank please?i am know expert but will try to help all I can as I have new fish die on me and knowing what I know now thanks to this forum, I could maybe of done a better job by adding a stress coat the the water or a dose of a water life treatment to rid some of the harmful bacteria for the new fish.
Hope you get to the bottom of this as its a nightmare.

Deffo drip acclimate new fish, i agree its important to add new fish carefully, ive lost new fish too before i learnt to drip acclimate

That dead guppy looks to have dropsy to me.....

What is dropsy?

I'm paranoid that the orange one isn't a guppy, i might take it to the fish shop and get them to check it

The nitrates are 0. I always put the bag in the tank for 10 minutes then add some of the tank water in for another 15-20, then hook them in a net. Dine this with all my fish.

what are your nitrite readings? when you put in your new filter did you put in all old media? as this could well be your answer as to whats happening, no nitrate could well mean your cycling

My nitrate level is 0.

When i changed the filter over i soaked the sponge and the biologal filter in tank water. I was using filter cartridges (in the old fllter) but the new filter doesnt use them.

nitrIte not nitrAte, nitrIte is leathal, nitrAte is the result of a fully cycled tank and all fully cycled tanks have nitrate, as you have none sugests your tank isnt cycled

Come down to a dead neon this morning, the guppys being followed by the orange one don't seem to have any chunks missing from thrm. Just did a nitrite test and it's at 0! What's going on?? :(
