Most of the people I talk with here seem to all be in England, but we're all so busy talking about our tanks and fish I never heard anyone mention a single thing about the Olympics.

I was just curious as to how life has changed for everyone there now that you're in the world spotlight for the next couple of months???

I have to travel through St Pancras International to get to work, which will be a major transport hub - although it will agonizingly busy and frustrating i can't wait - i'm a bit patriotic :shout: :good:

*breathes slowly*

I can't voice my opinion on the Olympics as this if a family forums. Anything else I would try to say wouldjust not compare to how i reall feel about the subject.

So i shall just say... arrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh *tears hair out*

Couldn't agree more lol..

Aw that's too bad you guys feel that way. :(
I'm really looking forward to watching the sports on TV and i love how we get to learn all about the athletes it akes it more fun to root for them :p Also i've got tickets to the finals of the Individual Show Jumping so pretty excited about that :D

I'm quite excited about it. Although, I have a 5min cycle to work, along a quiet country path. If I stayed in London, I imagine it could be a bit of a pain. But.... looking forward to the opening ceremony tonight. Think it'll be as good as the last 1 in china?

I work near the site that the rowers will be living in - there is an Olympic lane nearby, so I'll let you know how that turns out!

I have been suffering from Olympic fatigure - I have found the saturation of the event in ALL media to be too much......especially the bloody torch relay that appears to have been going since I was born.

.....however, now it's actully here I am getting quite excited. I have little to no interest in any of the sports, but I am always drawn to watch ANY of them when they are on. Knowing that the majority of peoples lives have been building up to this moment gives every single event something incredibly special. Watch it, and watch the uncontrolled release of emotions when someone wins gold/silver/bronze or simply puts in a personal best. And we get to see this happening multiple times every day.

soak it up people, you'll enjoy it!

I'm the least sporty person you'll ever meet... I couldn't be less bothered about the Olympics being over here in England tbh! :dunno:

It's not really about the sports for me, it's all about the excitment and the competition :) I genuinely do root for the competitors, especially the ones who have a good story. I'm also in the charmed position that I'm "allowed" to root for both the US and the UK

Plus I love how everyone becomes an "expert" in random sports during this period, using all kinds of terminology from sitting and listening to the commentators :fun:

Eugh, I can't sit and watch it! It just goes in one ear and out the other

I think it says a lot about the news broadcasters in your part of the US that you think it's strange for us to be in the world spotlight!!!!

I don't think life has changed particularly, the only thing that's different now than it was for, say, the Royal Wedding (which was only April 2011) is the introduction of the Olympic road lanes.

I have to say I'm pretty excited about the whole thing - we took the kids to the Torch Relay a couple of weeks ago, which was good. We also have tickets for 3 events, including football (the real football, that is, and don't try calling it soccer) at Wembley.

BTW, why do you Americans call your thing football, when primarily you use yourhands, not your feet? Just curious!

Wow, Surprised you all aren't more excited. I'm in the US, but.....

I, for one, have watched every Olympics since I was young. I watch as many events as I can fit in! That includes the winter Olympics. There is no comparison for the amount of work it takes to become an Athlete of Olympic caliber. It's so inspiring to watch. If you have ever paid attention in your history classes you would know how far back the history of the Olympics goes. There's something ancient and special about this kind of event, especially as it includes a gathering of the entire world! When can this many people from separate countries gather in such a way.... It's a moment of peace that should be happening always.

lol I'm a sap. :p I LOVE THE OLYMPICS!!!
