I have a red lobster (sweet water) about 3.5 inches long. I'm treatting my tank with ich medication, I'm on the 7th day of treatment. All the infected fishes died, The ones that seems not infected are okay!!,

But I my lobster has three days walking with its tail like rolled under itself, and inside I can see kind of orange 1/8" diameter eggs, I dont know if that is a disease or is that is pregnant.. Please tell me what to do? or some information, It doesn't extend its tail anymore, it seems if it is carrying those things!!

Please tell me something!!

I don't know much about lobsters, but everythind I've read about shrimp indicates thats where they carry eggs, sounds like preggers to me :D

im not a an expert but i would say thet lobsters are salt water and cray fish are freshwater i have some links i have been shown by people on this forum i will post them later they have prooved helpfull to me

thease where in another post but i figure they are going to be usefull to you not shure if someof them are in this post but here you go anyways just incase they arent
i think this is from elgecko
dunno seems a good site
another one
there that might help you out a little bit there was another one i think it was www.bluecrayfish.com or something similar

I have my tank just since like 10 or 11 days ago, from those days, 3 or 4 she has been acting like that, so probably my lobster could be pregnant from where I bought her, but the eggs seems big to me, should I separate her?
mm

Yes Jamnog, are eggs!!
Thanks for the links,
In those links I could find for the "crayfish" the photograph with the eggs, is the same thing, yes supposedly it lasts 28 days there, but should I separate her from my other fishes ? I'm really nervous about it, because I don't want to change her conditions, to stress her right now... what should I do?

mm

i dont know but if you think there are any potensial threats to the babies in the tank it might be good to moove her or the other fish yo usay you are treating for ihkmy advice is if you do choose to moove her put down a plasitc cup or something that she will want to use as a cave and when she goes in be carefull not to upset her too much as she might drop her eggs or something. im not shure how good they are at perenting but keep her well fed on things like bottom feeder carnivore pellates and cucumber. i hope it all goes well for you and keep us updated please i live stuff like this

Jamnog,
I'm thinking to use a breeding plastic cage hanged inside the tank, I don't know, and probably put some gravel and a rock where she lives right now (I dont know if it fits) but she is starting to loose some eggs, and my "stupid" couramis are eating them.
My question is, I read that the mother eat the small lobster, when am i going to know, do i have to take the mother out of the cage?
And how to feed the baby lobsters?
Oh my gosh, I feel I'm delivering.. And she is a little bit nervous, so that's why Im thinking it's time!!
Please give me an answer a.s.a.p

yes you would have to seperate the eggs from the mother best if you have another tank to raise them in. the breedig trap sounds like a good idea. they eat the same as the parent but less and smaller

Okey, Jamnog:

Yesterday I bought a 5 gallon tank, is very pretty, is an 2002 award design tank (acrylic), And I transfered the lobster to it. Well she seems to be stressed, I put the same rock where she lived inside, but now she prefers to live behind a plant.. she seems a little stressed, when I get very close to the tank she turns upside down and looses some eggs.. so I try to be far from her, I get close just to feed her. I will be very attent to when she deliver the babies, and then I will separate her (is that okay for the mother lobster? won't she feel bad after that?)
Supposedley I have to treat my 5 gal tank with kick-ich today, should I continue medicating the new 5 gal tank?

Well, please give me some advice, and I will keep you with any news..

Thanks

i think you are doing the right thing. unfortuanately im no expert on ichk treatment i think you have to treat for a while after the symptomes have goe because its a water borne parasite.

Thanks, I'll do it
Well, I see the lobster I little stressed, so let's see what happens..
I'll take pictures and send it to you,
;)

I treated the small tank yesterday and took the carbon out.. .
I'll take some pictures today!
;)

I know that some fish medications have a warning on them to take out any invertibrates or scaleless fish, etc... Make sure what your medicating with is safe for your crayfish! It would be stinky to harm her or the eggs after you have been workin so hard to take care of them! Good luck!!!!
