whatcha mean dude?

if you mean where am i getting coral's?

uncles mates got a ton of them i can rob.

no,it seems latley that you have been asking ALOT of marine questions IMO.

2011-2012 Im Starting my Rio 180 Marine project :hey:

Im Trying to get it done before i join up with the armed force's

as soon as i join up i'll proberly sell it if my mom cant look after it. :good: If she can i'll give it to my Brother to look after ( if he can ) If not and it gets too stressing i'll sell up.

But yes.

I Will be going marine in a years time or so

i know some of you are thinking

"Thats Wasting Money -_- "

But No. Im In it for the excitment of starting this project. And The experiance B-)

Well got everything together before lights out tonight, and..... the saltwater shorted out the LED... Ah well. So, not knowing another solution, I taped a new LED to the outside of the tank which still illuminates the funnel fairly well, so hopefully it works. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

I'm hoping they continue their routine of only a few hatching the first night. This way it can act as a kind of test run. If a few hatch and I catch something great. If some hatch an I catch nothing... well something needs revising.

Got home from work late so barely had enough time to put the thing together especially with the malfunction, so unfortunately no video. One tomorrow though :good:

Like everything in this hobby, everyone has different opinions. For example, two clownfish are very well capable of living in a 10G (38L) tank. But because they can, doesn't mean they should. We use this analogy at work a lot: "You can fit a baby in a shoebox... but should you really leave one there?" ;)

Boss is doing great. Most of the pictures are of him, infact, because his black pigment is the most developed. I may sell him to my co-worker so I can go visit. :)

Back Onto topic. I Dont want to steal it :p :good:

How big are these ATM?

I'm still trying to figure out an accurate way to measure their length... Regardless, the largest from clutch 2 are probably a little over 2cm. Those from clutch 4 are quite a bit smaller, most probably around 1.5cm. Are still some teeny runts in there from clutch 4 though which are probably around 1cm only.

If you are unable to catch any of the free and they swim into your main tank will you try and catch them and put them into a new tank or will you let nature run its course and obviously help by supplying some rotifers for the fry?

Good luck.

Morning Nemo :good:

I Agree with what your saying.

I Have a 48 gallon ( Converting into Marine around 2011-12 )

I Still have no clue what to stock it with :p

Good Luck with the fry.

Have a Nice New year :good:

The point of coming up with this larval snagger is so that I don't have to stand in front of the tank for hours in the middle of the night and then still possibly miss the hatch. This snagger will suction them up during the night for safe keeping until morning. Unfortunately, any that don't make it into the larval snagger, pretty much have a 0 chance of living

So here's what happened. As usual (and thankfully!) very few hatched last night, so few I wouldn't have even noticed any difference in the amount of eggs. There were 2 larvae in the snagger :) and then 20 minutes later... there was 0
Conclusion: Mesh isn't small enough

Still working on a way to fix it for tonight for the main hatch. Makes me wonder how many were in there prior to me waking up that had already escaped

Still working on the larval catcher

But here are some pictures :fun:

Apparently if you're a clownfish, as soon as you gain your first stripe it is mandatory to start hosting something and when you're in a tank with nearly nothing in it, you take what you can get.

Clutch 7
Day 13

He's had his stripes for a couple of days now and made his home on the... thermometer...
And then every so often a BBS passes by and he swims over and eats it and then runs back to the thermometer.

In this picture you can faintly see a second stripe forming. I didn't even notice it until I was looking at this picture, it's impossible to see without the flash from the camera.

And here are the eggs whose larvae I will be trying yet again to catch later.
9 Days old

I think because of the cold weather now, the majority are taking an extra day longer to hatch.

All of them with daddy taking care of them

And a close-up of one

While taking these pictures, daddy was inside taking care of them and one of the eggs fell off the top of the pot. He quickly grabbed it in his mouth and placed it on the bottom of the pot and it stuck there
I guess I know why there are always some eggs down there now.. It was so bizarre to watch..

I love That clown fish so cute. Makes me want to steal him :shifty:

whats that on picture 1/2

it looks like an egg or something?

So waited nearly all night last night for them to hatch... I got disappointed again :(
Darn cold weather... I'm blaming it on that.

The eggs are all still healthy just nearly all (> 95%) are still there. I did, however, catch 2 babies again last night :) and these ones made it to the larval tank! I guess the meshing was the problem, so problem solved! Still waiting for the mass hatching though
