Large Empty Tank And Thinking Of Oscars.....

i added the pike instead of a birchir or eel and am now kind of regreting it a bit as he has become very boistrous and even ripped Keiths fins.... i just dont think he is going to fit in anymore
the tank cant really take any more fish as it seems quite happy now and plenty of movement so im not going to risk anything else...... yet :hey:

Shame about the Pike Cichlid. A really nice one aswell :good: Seen the ad on the Classified section, hope it goes to a good home!

James.

impressive stock list youve built up now matt . tank looks great too , keith obviously isnt too bad for doing the old oscar interior design
yeah most of the stuff in there is too heavy for any of them to move but the fake plants and real plants have either been pulled apart or damaged so they have all been removed  i just have wood, rocks and sand now :good:

I keep meaning to ask how is the little EBJD growing?
he is in the same tank as the ornatums as i want to have them all in the same tank when adult. its only a 2ft 90L tank and needs to be upgraded asap hence the reason for the sale of my other tank. they have all grown a bit but not hugely, maybe an upgrade will spur them on a bit. :hey: the ornatums seen to be growing faster than the EBJD at the minute....

after about an hour of cunning tactics the pike cichlid has been caught and removed and put in solitary confinement  the tank is much more peacefull now but ive had to add the 4 inch Nic to the tank as the pike would have battered him in the 180  but all is well and the big boys are leaving him well alone :hyper:

if anyone wants an evil pike cichlid that must be at least 7 inches in length now then im open to offers as i need the tank he is in to put the ornatums in

the pike cichlid has been taken back to wharf and was twice the size i bought him at  the tank is peacefull once again and the fishes fins have all healed and are looking great again :good:

just thought i would give a quick update of the tank and its stocking now they have been together for a while now.....

the stocking hasnt changed for a while but just to let you know whats in there -

1 x oscar
1 x diadema
1 x rotkeil
1 x gold severum (possibly a faint red spot)
1 x flier cichlid
1 x nicaraguan cichlid
1 x BGK
1 x L190
2 x humbug cats
1 x jaguar cat

That is one nice tank, Oscars are realy nice with a personality of there own, one of the fist fish I owned.

Cracking tank matt. Really came along nicely with the stocking in the end. Question though, your back glass looks so clean? Do you not get much algae growing in their, or is it rigerous cleaning thats your secret?

to be honest mate the tank stays really clean. i get the odd bit of diatoms from time to time that needs to be removed but only on the back of the tank where flow is restricted behind the big piece of wood. not sure why im getting diatoms as i get perfect test results unless im overfeeding....

dont forget the tank is in a dark garage and the only light it gets is from the tank lights and the odd time someone goes into the garage during the day.

i have got a new lodger today for this tank in the form of a 6 inch red spotted severum :hyper:

it had been taken to an lfs and left there so they agreed to sell me him/her. it started off at £45 but i walked out £25 out of pocket :hey: not a bad price for a rss of this size i think.

ill get some pics up soon :good:

i have also sold the L190 pleco today as i was fed up of cleaning up his mess and the fact that i rarely saw it made this chor worse..... so he has now gone. cracking fish but far too messy and considering he was only about 5 inches it would only have got worse  i think my pleco days are finished now due to their huge waste!

i think my pleco days are finished now due to their huge waste!

I am of much the same opinion.

I also see on AC that some further rehoming is happening to make way for the new arrival !
yeah the tanks over stocked now and not how i would like it....

so a few have to go im affraid. i had the salvini from chris yesterday too and that has been nothing but a pain if im honest so he will have to go back to chris or sold on

im now thinking i would just like my oscar and a group of sevs. i have a large gold a large red spot and a large rotkeil and i really like them at the minute. but i dont want to let the diadema go either

Know how you feel about the salvini, never had a problem with ours and then a few days ago it started to harass everything in the tank so I think its times up :grr:

here are a few pics of the new sev that has had a bit of salvini treatmenr im affraid
