Large Empty Tank And Thinking Of Oscars.....

You've made me very happy Matt. Glad I'm not the only EBJD keeper on here who actively posts. I shall be watching closely over the coming months to see how he/ she grows. Clearly to young to tell the sex yet, altho the dorsal fin has the upward flick you would expect with a female. Much the same as my juvi female EBJD did, unfortunately I lost mine after a few months from clouded eyes. Hope yours turns out as nice as mine, seems to be 50/50 wether they come out ugly or not lol. You've picked a cutey I'll give you that.

:-( Dont normal JD owners count (normal as in non electric blue not the owner being normal, coz that counts me right out  )

Lesley ofcourse regular jack owners count :D I'm one of them also. Just the EB side is rarer to come across :D or are you just sore I'm picking up that free 4th tank tomorrow mornin haha. How's your jack then Lesley? (without going off topic)

I was at the Wharf today mate! Must have just missed you?! I got there around 4:45pm...

Had a good nosey round and saw the Leopard Bushfish, so cute, can't wait to pick mine up! I was also VERY well behaved and managed not to bring a EBJD home!

All the fish look ace, more pics please!

No way am I sore about the tank, well chuffed for you :good: Matt will tell you I seriously dont have room for another tank  Rainbow is doing fantastic, have started a journal on his progress, just waiting for my hubbys mate to e-mail me some pics he took. I cant thank Matt enough for passing him onto me he is just what I wanted

what did you think to Wharf?

we actually thought it was quite normal this time. they didnt seem to have many nice bigger specimins in. did you see the Uarus they have? they didnt look right to me for some reason.....
also did you see the texas i traded in. stunning fish but such a shame it wasnt compatable  i hope they had moved it from the tiny tank they put him in

defo no more room for another tank unless the kitchen is knocked down and you cook on a small gas burner..... :hey:

cant wait to see the progress of rainbow. its in the best hands with star :good:

the new humbug catfish thats in a 180 QT seems to have a covering of what i think is excess slime,,,, it almost looks like a very thin layer of clear colourless jelly
the guy at wharf did say that these fish dont seem to travel that well and if it did break out in slime that it was a defence against whitespot. i had no trouble with the first humbug and he is happy and eating well in the big tank now.

ill do a 50% water change and turn the heat up a bit to see if it clears and if not do you guys think i should treat for whitespot? ive only had whitespot once before and just had whitespots not excess slime etc. the guy did seem to know his stuff and seemed to talk from experience rather than just talking crap which is why we dealt with him

ive tried to get a few pics but its not coming out very clear. ill keep trying :/

Jethro & Gibbs (the big plecs) had that when I first rescued them, it looked like they were steaming with clouds of ooze comming off them. I did a 20% daily wc with them for about 3 weeks. Thats what I would do increase the temp & daily wc till it clears up, if ich breaks out treat it then :good:

Here you go Matt, Rainbow & Duce

I swear Rainbow has grown

well the excess slime on the humbug has all gone from what i can see. ive done a 25% water change anyway just to be on the cautious side, fingers crossed it was just getting use to its new temporary home
none of the other 2 fish in the same tank are troubled with anything so lets hope that it was just a quick scare.....

It is so weird how they get on now. I admit when I tried rainbow with Bailey & Tigger and Bailey went for rainbow so bad I was worried where to put him. Whether is because they went into the tank together so soon that they now get on or what I just dont know. All I do know is Duce made me out a fibber saying he was a calm fish

Walkers, there are a few JD's on ac, a guy nearish me has a pair (un bred yet) wanting to swap for other fish.

Great news on the Humbug, sounds like it was just stressed then :good:
