Has the substrate stopped leaching then?..... i would be very dubious of adding shrimp so soon... especially delicate crs.

Fingers crossed for you though mate.... you've certainly chosen one of the nicest shrimp around :)

0.25 - nothing daily. That is without any mature media in the filter.

Should be fine.

I am getting 10 A grade for £20 before going for any better grade.

it doesnt always work instant mate, i've done it a few times now and its lapsed into a week of testing and water changes until it gets stable.

:/ i will keep my eye on it and if needed continue with water changes. Takes 10 minutes to do each night so not to bad. Its the only time i could get the shrimp so i was a little stuck.

Good evening all, today i traveled to a local breeder to pick up 10 Crystal Red Shrimp.

I went for 10 A Grade as i did not want to spend to much money on a higher grade until i know everything is stable in the tank.

I have been monitoring the Ammonia leves for the past week and a half and for the past 3 days i have had 0 readings without any mature media in the filter. This was telling me that the FloraBase substrate has stopped leeching the toxin.

So this morning i did another 50% water change, added some mature media from my main tanks filter and then set off to get the shrimp.

So enough of me babbling on here are a few photos and a short video.

The shrimp are not active in the video as they are grazing on the food i gave them 10 minutes before. There are 6 larger shrimp one with eggs :) and 4 juvenile shrimp.

More pics over the next few days when they settle in a little more :)

Sorry the snaps are not great, LP

Cheers Stu, the hang on thermometer is great. Nice sleek design perfect for the smaller tanks.

Love CRS and that tank is looking good mate!

The HC appears to be doing alright, a lot better than it did in mine. :good:

Give me the heads up when these little guys breed :good:

Completely agree with Ian... tank is looking excellent and the shrimp are superb :good:.

Also give a shout mate if you have any crs to move on.

P.S... really not to put a dampener on the shrimp (they are stunning) but a couple of them do look a bit ropey to be A grade... Some look a little bit more B grade tbh..... bargain price either way though mate.

Cheers guys if they do breed and i have some to move on this forum will be the place i mention it on first.

Ian the HC is looking good, some runners have started to sprout out now so fingers crossed it continues. You can see a runner on the first image below. The fissidens moss should be with me early next week.

Jake i agree a couple of the larger shrimp look a little lower than A grade, however there are a couple of the shrimplets that look higher than a grade. When i got them he said i may have a couple of s grade in there.

Only time will tell :)

Couple more snaps !
