Is this just a common plec? how much are they to buy, i wouldnt mind another one to company the one i already have :)

Common names don't really help as they will vary from shop to shop...

Cost would probubly be about £5

I paid £3 for mine when it was about 2", I wouldnt expect to pay much over £10 for a fully grown one

Got ours for about a fiver! Was about 3" and advertised as L001 - Gold spot pleco

I think i originally paid £2.99 i think, the shop i got it from has now closed and my LFS has not got any and has not given me a definite price, i would like to get another one..

The one i have now is about 5" long. so looking for one similar size.

2 in a 4ft with 12 bristlenoses is not going to work :(

Another L001 will not be a good idea.

When they are older they get very territorial, and will fight...

you could try any other plecs, maybe a golden nugget or something like that.

If you had ideas of breeding L001s you'll have to think again. As they are bred in HUGE clay pits, and they dig tunnels in which they lay their eggs, this is there not possible in the aquarium. Plus if you did manage you would have thousands of fry that no one would buy.

If that sounded a little rude Im sorry I dont mean it to be, just some good helpful info' because I've seen your post about BNs and you seem to be very impatient with them, as youve had the the whole of 3 weeks and they havent bred yet  which is pretty silly imo.
They wont even be properly settled in yet.

hope this helps :good:

I always use 2 buckets, `1 for water changes (taking water out) and another for filling up m8

that makes alot of sence! :p

how big of a bucket and how do i keep my kat from drinking it?

Im not wanting to breed them, there is actually other plecs in with him, there is 2 common plecs and 2 small albino but i thought he was so cute i would get him a friend of his own kind :)..

Nether mind, il just leave it has is it is, but thanks all :)

so you have 5 plecs that are going to get to 12" + and 12 that will get to about 5".... all in a 4ft tank...
I personally think you need to address your stocking - and quick.
Commons (that will include the Albinos) grow at about 1" a month with the right care - they will slow down at around 8" but you'll be well over stocked before then.

No lol, i aint only got 1 tank, the 5 plecs are in a 3ft one :) (when they get to large i will re home them in to more spacious tanks)

The 12 are bristlenoses that are in a 4ft one.

Dont worry i have not overstocked my tanks :)

Maybe i should put in my sig, all the tanks and fish so that people do not think ive hundreds of fish and just one tank lol, ....

In my sig now, the 4ft tank is exactly how you see it, i dont think thats overstocked do you? just fry and endlers in there (8 adult) but only 2" at most.

Plus the bristlenoses.

If all the plecs are not in the 4ft then thats differrent but nowhere had you said that or that you have other tanks.
All the other plecs will out grow the other tanks quite quickly though but it sounds like you ready for that fact.

Have you got any piccys of your setups - I've had to ease back on the number of tanks we have - the cost of having 20+ tank does add up quite quickly :(
