Kari's First Marine Tank Journal

Started my day, with baby sat on me knee watching youtube clips of marine aquariums, there are some really beautiful reef set ups on there, very inspiring.

Still no reply from seller re the Nano tank, I have emailed again this morning, fingers crossed they are just busy & havent had the chance to reply.

Hubby is being very sweet & is off to Coventry this evening to collect my RO water, thats about it for now I think a fairly quiet day

hope you manage to get hold of the seller!
i've got the opposite problem with buyers not paying/contacting me!
you can never win can you!

anyways, once everythings set up you can sit back and admire your handy work, thats when you know its all been worth it, i'm sure you're gonna love this hobby!

Thank you, you are right, will all be worth it in the end. Still no contact yet..............

Good news, I have my Nano Reef handbook due tomorrow & 5k of live rock :good: Have also ordered my test kits, so far, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate & PH. Tomorrow is gonna be a fun day, even if the Nano tank turns out to be a no go, the RO water & rock can go in the bigger tank & I will set that one up as far as I can on Thursday instead.

I understand your pain re. ebay its soooooo annoying when people don't reply. At least you got your money back :good:
Sorry, can't remember what size your tank is, but I have some Black/Blue background you are welcome to have, I ordered the wrong size  its 70cm wide x 24" deep :good:

Thats so kind, just had to get the tape measure out, its 36" so 70cm is abit too short, but thank you very much for such a sweet offer. :good:

I love ebay, but it does get frustrating at times, at least I still have the money, if the nano doesnt work out, I will use the money to buy the powerheads I need instead.

And just maybe fate is at play here and you are about to find something fantastic :good:

ooooo excited, we have contact! lol, they oddly found the time to reply after I requested contact details through ebay & had the phone number ^_^ , but no harm, looks like we can collect Friday, so I will set up the other tank in the morning with the RO water & a powerhead to keep it until the tank is here.

I will take piccies as soon as there is something to see, promise, for now I just have an empty 3ft tank & a nano size space :p

Must add, Mr Kari now thinks I am more odd than ever as when he came in with my RO water I gave him a kiss & looked lovingly at the water, when he brought in a box of chocs I ignored him & went back into the hallway to look at my water in the new shiny containers, he has lost me forever to the salty side lol :yahoo:

haha, when you turn away chocolates something sure is up :D

congratulations karigupi!

It sounds like you're gonna be busy over the next few days! Glad you finally heard back from the seller- some people can be really frustrating on eBay, you would have thought if they're selling something and you're buying they would be keen to get rid asap.

Any hoo I'll stop rambling on, can't wait for first picture installment.

oooooooooo i'm so excited!!!

I have live rock!! Its preeeeetttie, Love it, a mix of Fiji & Blue Stone, piccies will have to be tomorrow as I have it in a tub untilI get the tank, its in salted RO water with a power head, it will be ok till morning I think? Had a lovely surprise when I opened the box, sat on top of the rock looking very territorial was a very cute red crab.

Trying to ID him, but no luck so far, he is red & kind of velvety, about 3/4 inch, I will try to get a piccie tomorrow when I move the rock. I hope we dont have to rehome him as he is very cute.

My tank is being collected in 2hrs :shout: but i'm not allowed it till morning.

I have however claimed my books which were for my birthday & am looking forward to sitting with them tonight, I have The Nano Reef Handbook & Super Simple Guide to Corals.

I'm looking forward to being able to play about tomorrow & start my journal properly, reef keeping here I come!

You can t wait, Wot about the rest of us......
Guess you wont be around much tomorrow then.
WTG
We'll all be watching and you better have some pics.
Best get a pic of Crabbie now as we may not see much of him when he's in the tank proper.
You may have to acclimatise him, what's your methods for this.
Regards

I cant see him now as he is in a little cave bit of one of the rocks, I acclimatised him over about an hour & half, his bit of rock went into a smaller bucket & I added the salted RO water into his bucket using my trusty turkey baster a little at a time, I hope he will be ok, as he wasnt in water when I found him, I thought this would be the best way to do it, when I moved the rock into the big bucket I watched him scamper about for a minute or two before taking shelter in another rock.

Piccies,I promise, although they might not be too good if I have already hit the birthday wine!

haha have anti shake on :D dont know if that will have any effect though

congratulations Kari :)

They gave me it early :shout: after cleaning, i've popped the rock in, with scape it tomorrow once I get the putty, test kits should also arrive tomorrow.

Its a very cute little tank & the live rock is gorgeous & full of life, need another 1-2k of rock which I will grab tomorrow, along with the sand.

Here's a rather murky full tank shot
