No, sorry, it's not my tank; I don't keep goldies any more (except in my mum's pond)

I would want a 48" x 15" x 18" tank for three goldies.

Honestly; if you haven't got the space for a larger tank, take the goldies back, buy a heater and get some tropical fish; you could have a lovely male betta (Siamese fighting fish) plus a few rasboras and some freshwater shrimp in a tank your size

Tropical fish are not more difficult or expensive. As an example, I've got a key meter that tells me how much money's worth of electric I'm using. I was out for an hour the other day and I'd used 8p; and that was with 5 tanks; three 4 footers and two 2 footers, plus my son had the TV, his PS3 and the stereo going.

If your tank is in a warm-ish room you'll be using literally pence a week.

I have a alot space for a 120L tank, pretty much anywhere in the house it could go. Finding a sturdy strong surface so the cats can't reach up might be a problem. I'll need to talk to my parents when I get the chance..

I'll probably come back onto this forum and ask for info on what's the best colourful fish, that get on with eachother and not fight.

Can a waterfall filter still be used for tropical fish? Stupid question but just making sure.

Cats love fishtanks; mine always used to sleep on the lid as it's nice and warm! As long as you've got a lid of some kind, you'll be fine.

I don't actually know what a 'waterfall filter' is, but I'm sure it would be fine; it doesn't really matter!

I know one of my cats will sleep on the lid as she likes the warm :p

This is my Marina s10 power filter,

With 2 cartridge slots.

Oh and an update on the fish. My parents find it a good idea to get a 120L tank to go in our living room. Hooray! :hyper:
Are there any small coldwater fish that stay small that can fill out that tank a little bit?

My fish may need to wait a little while though. I'm measuring them daily so far they're only 5cm (50mm) I'm sure they were that size when I bought them for sure. Because they look no bigger.

I'll try to upload a picture of my tank and fish

Also, my fish  [BEFOREHAND I APOLOGIZE FOR THE SIZE OF THESE PHOTOS THEY WERE TAKEN WITH MY PHONE]

And.. one of my fish seems to lay on the bottom of the tank on the gravel for a while, do they sometimes rest from swimming?
It does get up and start swimming after about 5-10 minutes. Not sure though, I looked on google and it said something about the imbalance of something.

If you ever think one of your fish is behaving at all oddly, the very first thing is to do a water change and see if they perk up :good:

Had done a water change removed 20% of water, as advised. Which actually makes the tank look more cleaner when i remove all thats in the gravel.

The fish has still been the same though. De-chlorine solution was added when I put some new water in.

The other fish are fine, floating around and swimming. It's just that one that lays on the gravel for a while.

Well, it maybe that's it's normal behaviour; it's honestly hard to tell with fancy goldies; they do often have bouyancy problems due to being such an odd shape...

Cant say i have ever seen any of my Black Moor's rest on the bottom from swimming, This seems odd. Id do a water test and then a 50% change if i were you. Post up your results & Lets have a look :) Nice fish though ;)

I'll try 50% water change and see if anything changes. :)

I did a water test about 2 days ago, tests came out fine, just went down to the store i bought the fish they do free tests.

I'll try to keep you updated and maybe get some better pictures while I'm at it too! :p

I would personally buy a test kit and test myself. I personally dont think id trust the LFS to give me exact results and not just say "yeah its fine. Want some more fish?"

I would go get anther test done though. And ask for the results rather than them tell you its "fine"

That way YOU can know for deffinate :)

LOoking forward to updates. Looks like a cool little tank.

Do test kits cost much?

Oh and I did check the charts. Checked the colours and the colour of the tests, they only came up a little bit over normal.
Showing me exactly where it should be and what to do to get it back in a very safe zone.
I wouldn't plan on getting more fish. I know 3 is enough. :p

I do plan to grab a 125 Litre tank for only £187 in the store I bought the fish at. Seems like a fairly nice tank.
I wouldn't buy the stand they offer though. Just looks like it'll fall over at any time.
Maybe buy a decent one or make one myself, shouldn't be hard

But buying a 125 litre tank, is it really worth so much money? Or can I find a better price and better tank elsewhere?

[UPDATE: Fish have perked up more since the 50% water change, but one of the black moors occasionally lays on the gravel. ]

Update: Now my orange and my black moor are now laying on the gravel.

More water changes; they're nothing to be afraid of and will not stress your fish. What are your stats?

Doesn't look good mate. You NEED to get a testing kit rather than rely on the LFS saying "yeah its ok i suppose" Big water changes needed now :) Good luck :good:

Have done many 50% water changes. I've made so theres nothing within the gravel, including fish waste.
I've taken out their plastic plants and everything. Have washed them with just cold water and made it so they're clean.
Maybe it could be the gravel itself?

Do fish only like certain colored gravel or does that not affect them?
