What do you base your contest votes on?

Who here votes for the most popular members? That would be stupid.

Look at the history it's quite obvious. On the other hand cliques are normal in everyday life forums are no different. No one's gonna change my mind, I said what I said. I doesn't bother me because I don't do it for anyone here, I do this for myself and the people who are interested in buying the fish i breed.

Contests are a tool to drive interest/traffic especially in a dying environment. Look at the number of entries and in all honesty it's a high percentage of the usual suspects.

Nobody’s going to admit it but they do . Look at how many times you’ve won . You’re obviously very popular .

No shot at Connor but youre not wrong. Staff has to do staff stuff to drum up interest. That's their job and it's necessary. I'm grateful for the forum but the contests means very little to me. The knowledge of fish keeping that the forum members have is my main purpose for being a member.

I really don't think it's a popularity contest. I think the same people tend to win multiple times simply because the same people tend to enter, and the same people tend to have beautiful fish tanks over and over. But I've seen plenty of winners who were new to the forums and relative unknowns. They just had beautiful tanks.

I think that kind of covers any attempted debate here. The original question asked why we vote as we do, not how we believe other people vote.
