Hi

I have a new tank set up and am on the 5th week and have tested the water levels and the PH is 8 and everything else is OK.

Would I need to get the PH down to add a Red tailed Shark??

Thanks

George

I have a 2ft by 1ft by 1ft tank think it is a 45 litre tank and have 2 female Platties 1 male Platty and a pair if breeding Guppy's.

I alsp have 15Platty and Guppy fry of about 2 weeks old.

A two foot tank is far to small for a RTBS, they can grow to 6" and are very territorial, the minimum tank size id recomend for keeping one would be a 48x12x15".

:D I am in agreement with cfc. your tank is too small and rtbs are very aggressive.......mine is!!

In most cases, fiddling with the pH is a bad idea unless you really know some chemistry. It is likely yur lfs uses tap water, so if the fish are living happily there, then they should be okay from a chemistry point at home, unless your lfs is a long way away.

RTBS in a small tank is not a good idea for the reasons already mentioned.
