jars...

are you asking for keeping adults in? Or are you breeding and what to keep the growing males in? If it's adults...1 gallon or more, I use a variety of items for my breeding and pet adults, from Kritter Keepers, Pens Pals (2.25 gallons), Sterilite containers (6 quart size) and aquaview tanks (1 gallon, $9.99 at Wal-mart). For my growing out male juviniles I use Beanie babie containers. Although now that they are nearing adult size I'm thinking of getting a bunch more sterilite containers (99cents at Target) and putting them in there until they are sent to a show or sold.

i thought 32 ounces was like 1/3 gallon...

anyways... 2 litre pop bottles work well

7 ounces = 0.05 g

16 ounces = 0.12

32 ounces = 0.24

none of those are good really for bettas

like 7 oz is less than half a gallon, but i can't find any that are 15 or 16 oz anywhere(closer to a gallon..)
16 oz is one pint, or 1/8 gallon. 128oz is one gallon.

soda bottles are way too small, and tall.

just get the 6 quart sterilite shoe boxes. 94 cents at walmart.

These containers is what jac was talking about. They are 6 qt. clear shoe boxes. A gal and a half is a good amount of water for a betta, and they are around a dollar apiece at walmart, and the dollar stores.
