Introducing "tigh"

Seem's he's warming to me (and the missus) quite well. His colouring is better today but he's still a little pale but no longer hiding at all. I can't, however, get over the amount he's crapped everywhere! I was warned here and at the LFS that they are messy fish but this is nuts lol :D I'm expecting a mini cycle to start soon too but i'll do the obligatory daily water changes to keep ontop of it.

Only seen my pleco once in the last 24hours, seem's he's well staying out the way hehe.

How much lighting should I be looking at? From what I read they dont like that much light. My tank has a 18" and 24" tube in it and I'm currently only running the 18" as anything more puts him into hiding.

thats good to hear :) flash ( my plec in with Jambo) has learnt that his flower pot is the safest place to be,jambo really winds him up, but usually he just gets on with whats hes doing and ignores jambo, and jambo hates the silent treatment

Day-Day is the same with the lighting, i have only 1 bulb on at the moment in there, hes gets moody with 2 on, but a t the end of the day, he dont need the light on, so its up to use how much you need to veiw him,on jambos i have 1 light and a moonlight,i turn the light on for about 10 hours a day, but hes not bothered wether its on or off obviously, i just like to see what the bugger gets up to,

the poop is the worst bit eh? get into the habit of doing very regular gravel vacs,as it can only get worse as he gets bigger, but your lucky as you have light gravel i have black in jambos tank,so what i do is, maybe everyother day i use the hosepipe to clean up the poo while syphoning some of the water out, and then top up the tank, and do big gravel vac on saturdays, keeps the water in tip top condition and takes 20 mins tops :)

shelagh xxx

You should see what sand looks like just a few hours after i've cleaned.

I had no idea the waste was THAT bad either

Well.. he's redefined the term "cupboard love"... always always wants food lol

Given up trying to take photo's, silly git wont stay still enough so i took a lil video, nothing special and I should have turned the telly off woops!

hes cool :good:

Dont be sorry! :)

Wasn't planning on keeping the thermometer, its just in there until i buy a tidy one with a probe (nicked it out of the community tank).

Didnt know they could break heaters!! I'll sort a cover out for it soon, gonna upset the plec though as thats his favourite 'hanging around' spot :p

I'm finding it a bit difficult to work out how much to feed this beast too, he just wants to eat all the damn time. At the moment he's getting fed once a day, for example 2 frozen cockles cut up a bit and a few small pellets of hikari cichilid excel. I vary the frozen stuff, i've got cockles, mussels and some wee fish (look like whitebait) that they gave me in the lfs
