if you could have any three tanks you could ever want, and you won the lottery so you could spend lots of time doing maintenence and not worry about cost, what would you choose?

i would have a south american amazon river biotype

12'x8'x4' LWH

it would be 2873 us gallons or 10874 litres
1000 gallon sump, with a 20000 gph turnover (lots of pumps i know lol)

sand substrate moderate-heavily planted with large bogwood pieces and areas with big round stones.

ph 6.7 water not hard, and temp 77 degrees

stocking

Characins
200x Neon Tetras
20x Silver Dollars
100x Glowlight Tetras
75x Black Skirt Tetras
100x Lemon Tetras
100x Rummynose Tetras

Catfish
10x Longfin Bristlenose Pleco
2x Common Pleco (rescues)
60x Bronze Corydoras
60x Julii Corydoras
45x Panda Corydoras
10x Pictus Catfish

Cichlids
10x Angelfish
16x Bolivian Rams
6x Firemouth Cichlids
2x Oscars
2x Jack Dempsey
10x Cockatoo Apisto

Livebearers
50x Guppies
30x Swordtails

Total Fish
908
with 575 of them being tetras

thats my first tank, i know there would be lots of fish eat fish, but hopefully they would breed and escape in the plants, plus they would be well fed. anyways ill try to think of 2 more ideas, but for now, please tell me your ideas.

Haha; to do a water change you'd probs ^^;have to SWIM in it! Scuba diving! XD

I'd have a 200-gallon tank with a male Betta & 20 female Bettas. Also, a school of 50 harlequin rasboras & 50 neon tetras (in a tank that big, they wouldn't disturb the Betta anyways XD); also 30 platies -- probs either all females or 2 males & 28 females -- that way I'd see some fry. ^_^

It would have sand for a substrate, and it'd be planted up with HI -OOGE Amazon swordplants in the back, and lots of cabombas around the sides and just in front of the swords, and elodea & wisteria and java moss for a carpet. Lots of moss balls & there would be some bogwood in there, too. Also lots of my favourite floating plants. ^_^

Nothing special, I know. XD But I want one just like that sooooo badly! :D

I'd have a 8*4*4 with one of each Polypterus species in it
I'd have a 6x2x2 for breeding pair's of Polypterus
I'd also have like a a 20x10x5 (l/w/h) with a mini self sufficient eco system in it.

yeah, my idea was sortof soppossed to be a self sufficient eco system, but i also would have to feed them, which i guess makes it not self sufficient lol, but the big fish would be able to eat the babies of the other fish

i'd buy the atlanta aquarium, the tank with the whale shraks in it, then turn it freshwater and stock it with gigantic schools of fish and have monsters in there as well, and im pretty sure 1. somtin million gallons will keep predation down eh?

Now thats what I'm talking about I had the same idea! :good:

Now let me top that heres what mine would look like but bigger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7deClndzQw Its the second largest aquarium in the world its in Japan the biggest is in Georgia. The tank in the link is almost 2 million gallons. Id like to have a 20 million gallons. What I would stock it with? What ever I wanted

i would build a glass house under the most populated part of a tropical sea/ocean :) hows that! lol

EDIT: i know its not 3 tanks but it would be amazing!!

lol thats cheating... you could perhaps make a huge*** saltwater coral reef and then build your glass house inside of it.... come to think of it, that would be sweet!

As long as your house didnt spring a leak.

There is no way that I am ready to cut back to 3 tanks. I really would like to standardize my tank size and set up an automatic water change system. I keep mainly single species tanks and a nice standard size of say 40 gallon breeder tanks would be nice if I had unlimited funds. I already maintain 25 running tanks but they are all different sizes and that does not work as well as a nice standard system would.

lol, i probably wouldnt stop at 3 tanks if i had millions of dollars, now that i think about it, i would have so much fun. id probably go to the amazon and find a new species and take a few home with me (if they werent endangered of course lol)

ahh but you can only dream...

I would build a gigantic Betta pond, simulating their natural conditions in the wild. With males and females. I would have to do tons of research about their natural habitat.

My pride and joy would be a house built around a huge, interconnected tank. Tanks in walls, with clear acrylic tubes connecting tanks around the house, so fish could swim all around the house. Rainforest Cafe had a similar concept.

I would want a 100 gal 55 gal 200 gal. I would keep what I have south American fish. For the 200 gal I would want salt water.
