hi. I think my betta has finrot =(. The fins in the back are shorter. I think it might have been ripped by the pump or its finrot. I did a water change recently and used up my last sample of water condtioner. I also used aquarium salt. My better is getting more active and becoming more normal. I also need help on what to get for my next water changes. All i have now is aquarium salt. Can you guys recommend stuff to me? also what are the difference between these:

1.http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754035

2.http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754033&keepsr=0&clickid=prod_cs

Do i need all of them? I think i might get the stress coat and water conditioner if they are different. All my plants died too unforunately. THe plants had like a burnt look to them. Was it the aquarium salt that did this?

I hope my betta makes it =(. It's been almost 5 months since i had him.

partial waterchanges every day for aweek and see if he improves. feed bloodworms if you have them 2-3 every other day. if no improvement or his fins start to rapidly disintegrate, get some maracyn I and II. use in combination. but ONLY if the water changes do not improve (or at least halt) the finrot.
cheers

oh okay, but do i use water conditioner everytime? can you help me pick which one to buy thanks.

I use SeaChem Prime with my tanks. It was recommended to me by members on this site. It goes a long way and is not that expensive. A bottle that treats 2500 gallons at Petsmart is $9.99. Yes you use a conditioner everytime you change or add water.

oooh SeaChem Prime looks really good. I am going to buy it tomorrow. Would betta fix or SeaCHem Paraguard help with my bettas finrot?

Think I would stick with the water changes as suggested above and then if that is not helping try the meds suggested. Good luck.

Oh okay i bought the seachem prime today, but how do i dose it? its 1 capful(5 mL) for 50 gallons. my tank is only 5 gallons.

If you read the directions on the bottle it says that you can dose smaller aquariums using the threads in the cap. I do not remember exactly what is says as my tank is over 50gal. If the directions are still unclear try the seachem website. Also you can dose up to 2x to help with ammonia so a little over should be no problem. Hope this helps.

I don't know if my betta is getting better. I noticed recently that its eyes are cloudy. What else can i do? i did the water change already today.

Glossy eyes and shortend tail...plants look burnt, ammonia maybe? dunno if plants can get ammonia burn fish sure can tho. Just a thought because ive seen a betta which came into contact with ammonia and his fins where burnt and eyes went a bit glossy.

fill the cap to the bottom of the first thread. its difficult to "overdose" water conditioner. i never even measure. just plop a bit into the new water before adding to the tank. but dot go that route until you are comfortable with the amount you should be adding. THEN you can eyeball it.
could you put a pic up of the fish at all? would be very helpful to potentially determine what is wrong with the fish (a picture, even a not-so-good one, says a thousand words-so they say :)
just keep up with the waterchanges.
how do his fins look? im sure they are still tatty but are they getting noriceably worse? any black/dark or white edging to them? anything fuzzy/fluffy growing on the ends?
all the best
cheers
