I Really Shouldn't Have...

That wood is great. You have quite a thick layer of substrate. Maybe that's why my plants have brown bits in my main tank-I have about an inch or so of substrate. I might top it up tomorrow if I get the black.
I will need to give rustys tank a good scrub tomorrow. It will be worth it in the end once it's all done!

I'm dreading it. It's daunting. I did it with my big tank and this tank is half the size so should be easier.
I will just take it step by step and document everything.
Simples...

I can't stop looking at white sand.

It's gorgeous.

I've just been looking at midnight/dark blue gravel. I think he might look striking against the blue - someone already suggested it and that got me thinking. I remember a blue car with orange wheels and it really worked. Again I don't know if it would apply to a fish tank lol. I like different and I already have a dark tank with black substrate/dark background (I made it myself using a bin bag so it's not too black

)
What do you think about blue? It could work but if it goes wrong then it will be very wrong

Just seen this too

it's my wheel colour!

He's beautiful! There have been some very nice lfs Betta finds recently I guess! :)

Thanks, it's the first i've ever seen this colour. They are always red/blue/pink. I wasn't even going to get one. That's my fry tank he's in!

I don't know if you can see from these pics, but there seems to be some scales missing on his head. I don't know if he's maybe scraped them. He likes leaning against the wood, I have seen him do it.

Someone is selling bogwood with xmas moss on it. I am enquiring about it just now. That would look awesome in this tank. That way fry could still survive.

I've only seen that color in pictures, i would've gotten him too!

That sounds like a good solution for keeping your fry tank.

I was only really wanting to breed my black guppy to see if I could get pure black babies. I ended up with 15 babies from already pregnant females who I brought home. Both of them sadly died and they were both gold so the babies are all white so far. The half black female who I paired with the black male still has roughly a week to go! My tank will be rescaped and spotless by then!
Am I correct in thinking he will eat fry?

Most likely he will eat the fry.  My sister has a female who ate whole adult guppies! There's a slim chance he won't, but better safe than sorry if possible.  Good luck on your guppy breeding!

really? That must be a big female! Rusty is -body wise-smaller than my yellow male gupp (i've never seen a male this big) I wouldn't take any chances. The fry can stay in the main tank. The woods strategically placed for hiding.

Today is the day. Just up and my stomach is in knots. I don't know if i'm more nervous about putting him in the main tank in a breeder net or about doing the whole change.
Everything will be documented so will see you guys later when I have the stuff

You are correct he will gobble the fry with relish ;)

Good luck and looking forward to the pics later, make sure you acclimatize him to the other tank water vs just plopping him in, as there can be slight variations in temperature etc.  Also, if you have a scoop, it is easier to scoop him into a container than netting him and less stressful.  Just put the scoop underneath him and then scoop him up ;)

I had to turn the temp down in that tank. Because the fry were in it, it was ridiculously high like 29/30. I gradually turned it down over the course of yesterday. Will pick up another thermometer too. Both tanks are sitting at 26 now. I am getting more and more nervous. Just don't want him jumping out the trap :/
Will keep you updated :)

Just pulled up outside the big pets at home so I will see what they have

I am back. I will start a new thread in the members tanks section ;)
