when i go into tropical discussion i see new members posting like hardware questions... invert questions... all i ask is that those kind of questions are moved into the appropriate sub sections.

The mods do their best with this, but there is only a limited number of mods to an ever increasing population of members, and it is hard for them to move all threads that are in the wrong place.

The best thing to do if you see a thread in the wrong section is to PM the mod that is in-charge of that section.

Questions in the right section are more likely to be answered in more detail and in a shorter amount of time, sections are there for a reason so there is not excuse not to use them.

I agree, but I do understand that mods can't move every thread, there are bound to be a few that slip through.

Exactly, that is why Mods really appreciate it when members help them out! :good:

Any mod can move a thread. We all spend time in all sections from time to time. There are notify buttons if you think that there is an issue in a forum. Cheers. SH

Hi Liam50 :)

Believe me, I try to keep up with it but it's just about impossible. If you see something out of place, please hit the report button and I, or one of the other mods, will move it as soon as we come on. I do appreciate your help and the cooperation of the other members who post their topics in the proper sections. :D

I have an idea that may help solve this problem. When people become new members, do we not send them a PM welcoming them to the forum? Maybe we could include a guide to appropiate posting in there, so the mods won't have such a tough time sorting out topics, and some of us (Liam50) may sleep well at night.

This would assume that every single new member reads that PM ;)

Why is this such an issue? people coming to the forum do not know, even we sometimes post in other sections by mistake...most people are here at 1st for health issue's....i dont see it as a big deal, once mods notice they can move, but dont let little things like this bug you, theres more to life :fun:

As mentioned, a lot of new members are still learning where to post and quite a few of them found us via an internet search and have a problem they are looking to get help with. There are probably more misplaced threads in the Welcome to Tropical Fish Forums section than any other.

If you see one that is out of place, simply click the report button and one of us will get it moved.

I often look at the welcome and the general discussion areas and think that almost every post in those places really does have a home elsewhere. I usually do not move them unless someone asks because I want the person who made the original post to be able to find their topic. If both sections were filled with mainly links to follow to the right place, I don't think it would look any more organized than it does today. The idea of getting faster answers is a different perspective and I may start moving more than I have been just to get the questions in front of the right people to help the OPs.
