How Often Do You Change The Water?

For those that do not use filters for their betta container or small tank, how often do you change the water and what % do you change?

I'm assuming variables like % changed, amount fed and size of container all come to play when considering how often you do it.

Do you test the ammonia to determine a schedule?

when i had 3.5-4 ish gallons unfiltered i'd do between 50-80% water changes twice a week. and they were kept barebottomed with silk plants.

2 30% per week and then one massive one once a week

100% twice a week, once a week on larger tanks with a top up in between.

Filtered small betta tanks get 50% once a week

Regular large fishtanks get 30% a week

well in my .5g I change the water every 5 days or so....it doesn't build too much waste and is pretty clean surprisingly

A 0.5 gallon is to small for a betta and if it is used it should be clean evry other day. Just because it looks clean does not mean that it is clean the ammonia is building up and slowly harming your fish.

My 1-2 gallons gets cleaned 100% every 4-5 days.

On my 1 gallons I change 100% once a week - I've tested the water before water changes and ammonia & nitrites are zero. On the 2.5 gallon filtered tanks, I change ~30 - 50% once a week.

i do a 90% change every week. it's probably more, i just keep the betta in original water while i'm cleaning and just dump the rest back in there.

I do a 100% change every 3-4 days.
