How many Cichlids

I have a question in regrds to Cichlids. I have a 20 gal with 4 cichlids for the time being. How many more can I add without having them eat each other? I presently have 4 males (I believe, they are very colorful). Is there any way to tell? I am going to get more fish tonight. Should I get females?

if they are true cichlids.....i would only get 2 more......they can still get pretty big in a 20 and it may get pretty crowded for them.

no offence 2 you guys chichlids is the biggest group of fish! what kind of chichlids do you have it sounds like you have too many allready and i would not advise on breeding you have not enough room where are you going 2 but all the baby fish when they grow up???

Like mentioned tho, we have to know what cichlids you have before we can give an answer, unfortunately.

Can you let us know if they are New World or Old World? What was the name of the fish on the tanks you bought them from? Can you give us a peek at some pictures of them?

cichlidmaster knows cichlids just by smell. I'm convinced of that! He should be called Aquaman intead! So between him, I and the other great people that have already responded to you, there's a whole lot of people with good info lined up to help you if you'd like.
