Yesterday I saw some male guppies that had a silver head and then jet black body and tail that looked like velvet. They were very pretty and I would have gotten the two they had but the last thing I need is more livebearers.

So are black guppies farely common or did I miss out on an uncommon fish? I have never seen them around here before.

I've got a guppy with a jet black body and multicolored (mostly red) dorsal fin and tail. Is that similar to what you're talking about.

NO totally black. SOLID black. No other color besides the silver on the head of the fish.

Like that. Apparently they are called black tuxedo guppies. In this pic the fish have clearish dorcals. The fish store fish were solid black.

they had some of them at my LFS, although I think they sold them all now. They do however have some half silver/half black ones.

I have never seen all black bar the head.

They were $2.99. Same price as all of the other males. Females were $1.99.
