Hello there and what a hot day it has been here in the UK.

Last night (or rather this morning) at midnight I did my usual cold water change and the tank water temperature came down to 21degrees which is normal for me.

After today's heat with the windows open the temperature is now 29degrees (the PC55W turned off an hour ago)

I have had to draw the Lily pipe outlet up to get the water splashing a lot and open the front of the hood to let the air in!!!
EDIT: And turn off the UV

What are all your temps?
How is it affecting your fish?
Do you have an awesome amount of pearling compared to normal?

Andy

p.s. just bought 2 PC Cooling fans off ebay to fit into the tank hood when they arrive.

Mines at 28° at the moment. Its not to bad for the fish I have at the moment and just having the windows open with an open top tank does a reasonable job of keeping it call. I used to use a 19" room fan but I broke it a couple of weeks ago so need ot get another one :( When I have kept cooler water tropicals dechlor'd ice cubes can help but just watch they dont drop the temo too much.

My fish are ok atm. Not much Pearling for me at the moment as I have knocked the CO2 and lighting back over the last week while I introduce fish. Also I have next to no Nitrates in the tank which I need to try and sort out.

Ha! Where I live it's 68 degrees Fahrenheit. And that's in Salem, Orgeon. The climate is completely opposite of last years.

Mine is 31°. I have took off the hood and it is still 31 from yesteday. My fishes are O.K . I always have alot of pearling going on when its hot because the tank is next to the window.

Hot?

How's he 40's C sound to you all?
Central Valley California is "hot".
What "very hot"? Death Valley, The Sonoran Desert, the Mohave desert etc. 50's there.
128 F, I think that's about 54 C.

I've had the tanks well into the upper 30's C.
Plants and fish are fine, except things go faster, you need more O2 and bit more CO2 to keep pace.

A fan blowing along the surface of the tank will cool things down some.
We have AC, but rarely use it, cost too much to run.
But when it got 105F yesterday here, I used it:)

Tom Barr

Reached 27 deg last night. Got the front flap open at the moment and its about 26 or so this morn. I suspect this is actually about right, but normally the tank is about 24 to 25 deg. Still, I woke up this morning to see the leopard danios spawning, as well as some of the harlequin rasbora :) I guess they must be happy enough!

My "cold water" tank is usually in the 18 - 20 range. Thats at 23 this morn, but thats going by the stick on thermometre (I have a digital one with probe on the tropical tank). Again, everyone looks happy in this tank at the mo.

Got to about 30 Yesterday and had all the windows and Patio Doors open.

Big 90G is near the Patio Doors and is open top so does not heat up much.

My Small 1G betta tank is fortunate be on the PC DIY desk and sits near the room fan, so has a breeze blowing over it day/night.

Both my tanks are currently at 29C. There normal tempreture is set to be 24C

Don't seem to be too many problems. Just feel sorry for my blackmoor as that temprature is far from suitable.

Tank at 27 Celcius.

Went thorpe park yesterday, everyone was on the water rides and we all got dehydrated in the queues!

My mawlawi tank is kept arond 81 and my planted tank around 79. I did have an insident where my AC went out in my house on 100 degree day and my tanks for over 85 degrees. I put frozen 2 liter bottles in the tank to cool them off, but I imagine my fish must have been sweating!
