Home Alone

^^haha i want to say poor kid but my sympathy only goes so far... i hope he managed to pull himself together.

What terrifies me is how many dangerous weapons people have in the house, i mean... i guess anything can be a weapon... but so many blades? Really?

Does no one ever worry that if you pull ou a weapon on someone who might just be breaking in unarmed to steal something... that they might get their hands on it and use it on you if they feel threatened?!

I mean.... working on a farm, i always carried a small knife on my for cutting baler twine one hay bales and i had to walk 5 miles home when my moped stopped working at 8pm in december. Was cold and dark and after being chased by a group of very drunk men, i pulled the knife and all it took was one smack and i dropped it and they used it against me.

Knives are scary as heck!

We had someone in the house the other day, came in the back door and trailed muddy prints through the house while we were giving our 4 month old a bath.

Didn't take anything, we spend all our money on things people don't want to steal.

They've been back though and had a go at an outbuilding, so that's acquired a new (well, new for the door) padlock.

The police have been very helpful, but if they insist on not taking anything then they're not going to throw a huge amount of resource at it.

As for weapons, the CO2 cylinders make interesting deterrents, and non-lethal too so long as you don't hit them with them. Otherwise it's a bow and arrow, power tools, chainsaws, chef's knives or, at a push my work bag hurts like hell when you drop in on someone's foot.

I love knives and that's why i keep the more bigger we opens up stairs plus it's a proven fact its harder to fight upwards ( up stairs / hills ect ) and to be honest no days nearly every little thug/ gangster wana be carrys weapons and I'd rather be one up on them if trouble comes to my doorstep to protect my family By any means nessasary

I actually have a lightsaber in my bedroom. Yes, it may only really be a piece of plastic, but it makes the noises and everything and there can be no cooler way to deter a felon. And when I lived in London I slept with a hammer next to my bed.
My mum woke up to find a burglar actually in her bedroom about 6 months ago. He'd been rifling through the house thinking it was unoccupied and when he got to her room he hadn't noticed her sleeping in the bed. Fortunately he ran away and my mum was unharmed, though obviously terrified.

you can get a collapsing baton for pretty cheap on amazon. they will do a lot of damage but they arent much of a deterrent. if the person would have seen it they wouldnt realize how
dangerous it was until it cracked their head open.

The problem in the UK is the intruder seems to have more rights that the home owner. He can take you to court if he gets hurt.

At a time like that I think of my old karate instructors quote. " I would rather be judged by 12 men, than carried down the road by 6"

I think they should introduce a law where if an injury or death is sustained purely because the injured party was knowingly performing a criminal act at the time, and if they had not done so they would be unharmed, then the injuring party should be immune from any sort of prosecution regarding the said injury or death.
