Very adorable story. They look so cute, but don't they smell?
they just smell like the ocean..unless of course one dies.
I owned hermit crabs for about 2 years when i was younger, I had probably around 6 of them, one was the size of my thumb and the biggest the size of my hand. I remember seeing them at night switching shells, they looks so weird cause their body is soft and tiny compared to there claws..they are cool to watch.
cool pics ken

Thanks guys & gals :)

the background of your tank is it just a background or the wall?

Its just a backing sheet picture :) I use them on all the fish tanks I've had for the last few years too, they look more realistic than ones with plants IMO.

make sure you have bigger shells for them in their for when they need to change.

Did some beach combing the other night, didnt come up with anything yet though...
Do you know any websites that sell them? The only ones I found had shells painted like footballs and other stuff.

Those are some nice looking ecuadorians you have there. I have many hermit crabs myself.

Thanks! I was trying to confirm if they were E's :) Do you add salt to Ecuadorian crabs water? The LFS said they never had to, but the book I have (Sue Fox) says I should..

Ken,

The book is correct.... E's need both fresh water and salt water. I do know of a great website about land hermit crabs if you would like more information just let me know.
