Help! Gasping Sick Ghostknife!

Thats a kuhli loach, they are social fish and like at least 5 of their own kind :/ right now i wouldnt up their numbers but after you get your tank back to normal and maybe add sand.

Ah i never knew that, might explain so much as to why it's so skittish in the tank.
Welp thank you!
Hopefully i can get the test tomz and the ghostknife pulls through for another night

And i think what you meant by 3 widows is black skirt tetras... thats what they look like.
Yea np but if the BGK gets healthy, which i hope it does, then kuhli laoches might be a tasty snack for them, they may look like they have tiny little holes for mouths, but actually their very wide.
Black skirt tetras may be at risk as well.

Speaking of the other fish..the bala sharks & silver dollars also get too big for this size tank. :/

BGK as you've been told can get to 50cm (sometimes more), would think a minimum of 183cm long tank, bigger the better though.
Bala sharks can get 31cm (sometimes more), and most recommend a 240cm long tank, since they are VERY active. They're also schooling fish so groups of 6+ are preferred.
Silver dollars can get 15cm and are schooling fish so again prefer groups of 6+.

HERE is some more info on the silver dollars, and HERE is more info on the bala sharks. Unfortunately SF doesn't have a page for BGK :c

Am not trying to attack you or anything, and right now you just need to focus on getting everyone happy and healthy again. Please do take that info into consideration though once everything is settled.

the tetras are fine and the ghostknife and the loach fight but they normally have 3 caves and keep to themselves.
I know, it terrifiyed me when mine yawned once and it mouth was massive.

the ph has settled to 6.6 from what i can tell, Derek (ghostknife) is swimming a little more, have to move him away from the heater just i case he burnt and didnt wany any of it. Loach seems to have settled now too.

Ah i know that the tank is too small, the fish have bashed themselves a few times, used to have another shark and dollar but oe broke its spine on a rock as a baby and the other dollar jumped out at night. The sharks were actually meant to be a test for the tank when it was set up but never died. We even had a ciclid in there but got rid of it cause he was a little ...

Family wants to get rid of the fish and tank after i fix it anyway, bit upset though cause i do like the angel alot and the ghostknife but i know they need a bigger tank. Was meant to get one but that was dropped.

Either way some actual knowhow is good and useful :)
I take no offense as longas you ignore my terrible spelling ¬¬

Ouch sorry you have had a rough time with the tank :-(

You know now that you don't need to use fish to see if the tank is safe? Following the cycling article at the top of the page is the most humane way.
I know ya'll are likely going to get rid of the tank but you can always use that cycling info in the future if you decide to get another.

 Derek..very funny name for a fishy.

Ohh yes I plan to remember all of this, try and do everything right next time. I wish i didnt have to get rid of em but I guess someone could take better care and possibly use the eggs the dollars give off.
Ah is the article part of the two links you gave me or am i being dumb again?

XD Ghostknifes make me think of water dogs and someone had made me watch teen wolf at the time.

Lol nice, well its a really fun hobby done right! nighty nighty ima get some sleep.

Nopers the cycling article is at the top of the page of this website. I can link it to you HERE though! And HERE are some ammonia sources, post #30 probably being the best for you.

Sweet thank you!
I'll read through it some more and update the thread once i get the water tested :3

So i guess bad news but he is now breathing harder and swimming very erractically like something is really bothering him. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm not even sure that he'll make it through the night for me to get the water tested.

I was hoping you might have been in Perth, was going to come and give you a hand.
