:-( its just my luck every time i get up in the morning ive lost fry. do you have any clue why this happens and what do i do? i only have 5 fry now! :-(

well, a good start is always to change some of the water, next, wat r u feeding them? cuz i once lost a whole batch of fry when i was starting out cuz the food i was feeding them was too big

i do 20% water changes every day. i feed them frozen brine shrimp and poweder flakes. im going to try this tonight i will not turn the light off and see what happens.

the light shouldn't have anything to do with it; I would turn it off since the fish do need rest. make sure the food is very finely powdered. If you think it's small enough, make it smaller :p better safe than sorry.

do you have anything in the tank with the fry, or are they in a community tank?

Well since they are babys after all they are very sensitive. You should feed them food that is good. You feed them baby brine shrimp which is good. But dont always day after day feed that. Try a very wide diet for them. I feed my fry baby bites(good food), crushed freeze dry blood worms, crushed flakes into fine powder, put vita-chem in the water after every water change which is every 3 days. Siphon the tank bottom every two days at least(every day if it look like excess waste). I also have a red cherry shrimp in the fry tank(be carefull they can eat fry). I have watch my shrimp for days and shows no sighns of threat to the fry. Also I feed the shrimp algae hair that I grow in a bucket that is near a window and at night is lighted by a 60 watt incandesant bulb. The shrimp is good at cleaning up the tank between siphoning. So hope that what I do with my fry tank(10 gallons) helps to make your fry unlikely to die. Also I have never with this tank had a fry die. I have had my fry for 2 months and some are young. I just recently move all my 61 fry(guppie and swordtails) into the 10 gallon they are in now. For the livebearers to give birth I use Baby nursery for livebearers. It has a built in filter which cleans water. The filter is composed of air stone for oxygen which is flown in a way that takes water from the outside unit and makes a filtered water flow inside. Also it has a removable divider which makes it possible to isolate two pregnant fish at the same time. Hope This all helps

I leave a light on with angel fry for the first 2-3 weeks. This keeps them from settling on the bottom, where the majority of the bacteria accumilate. Bare bottom tanks are best for cleanliness, wipe the bottom with a paper towel daily before water changes. Fry are delicate, trickle the water in for water changes, I use a gallon jug with a 1/8" hole punched in it.

As far as food, a finely crushed quality flake, along with the bbs should be fine. It's tough to determine how much to feed without overfeeding, especially with fry. I cheat, & put a small cory in fry tanks to take care of any excess.

Not sure this is relevant for livebearer fry- IME they tend to sleep at the surface once they are over the initial shock of the birth.

usually frozen brine shrimp is too big for fry, baby brine shrimp is much better, but powdered flake food works too. feed multiple times a day (at least twice) :D good luck with the fry
