A little update... while I was vacuuming the gravel of my tank... guess what I found swimming around in my bucket...
ONE fry!!
I can't believe it survived! It's happily swimming around a little fish bowl at the moment (I'm going to buy a breeding box today for it because I'm going to keep it Didn't buy one the other day because I donated them)
And it's EATING!! Oh it's so adorable!!~ ; __; I hope it'll be okay! My water is sucky, but I'm working really hard to try and change that :C My other fish are doing well though, so that's a really good sign. No clamped fins, red gills, or flashing

that's good! I'm surprised he survived too, do you have gravel substrate or sand? I have gravel and they hide really well in there.

Just keep ammonia and nitrite levels down as much as you can Did you get any mature filter media from the LFS?

I have gravel I am surprised at how well they hide in there! I hope there aren't any more D:

I wasn't able to get one , but I'm going to try again today! My fishies need clean water! D

Wow, congrats!! My fish always end up eating them (I think, anyway)... I only found 4 the other day, even though the girl was pretty big.

I went to the store that I applied to today and bought a breeding box for the babies, which they are swimming in now :3 and they didn't give me any media, BUT they squeezed out a sponge filter into a bag for me to pour into my tank to help give it a bacterial boost!
I just added a bit right now, but I'll add in some more later I hope it helps!

I would add it all now, the bacteria could die as the water will go cold and there is no food - it's no use to you then!

Alrighty I added in half the bag (it's a pretty big bag lol)
I'll just wait a minute and add in the rest, my fish are like "What's going on!?" haha
Once the tank isn't murky anymore should I do a water test?

I just tested it a few minutes ago to see what it's at And then I'll test it again in a few hours.

Right now its:
Nitrate: 5.0-10
Ammonia: in between 0 and 0.25, but it's definitely not 0.25
pH: 7.6
Nitrite: 0

Hopefully the ammonia will improve in a few hours

Did the breeder box come with fake plants or anything? if not, I would suggest you put in some floating plants if you have any, so they have places to hide

It's a netted box and I don't think the other fish see them haha, they haven't bothered them
There are little tiny places for them to hide in the box under the plastic frame, and they've been getting cozy in there, but I'll keep that in mind!
