Help! Another Dead Pygmy Cory.

Corys can soon pick up bacterial infection from unhoovered substrate. Remove ornaments and try and hoover
around plants. Or just gentry with your hands just stir the substrate around the plants.

How many corys are left now?
How many still look ill?

Melafix and pimafix are overrated in my opinion and not all fish tolerate the medication to well.

There maracyn plus but it's antibiotic, also tetracycline, they will wipe the good bacteria out in your
filter.

I don't know if you can get it in Australia but Esha 2000 works well for corys with bacterial infections

Sorry didn't notice your location was Australia. Not sure on medications you can get in your country.

Thanks I will see if I can get Esha here!

There are 7 Cory left as far as I know (I can only see 5 but you know they hide pretty well).

One guy looks sick, maybe another too.

So should I avoid medication then and just gravel vac?

I put some salt in the tank last night by the way.

Esha 2000 is not bad medication but only affective on mild bacteria infections.
You need to treat and try and get hold of an internal bacteria medication. Which treats the inside of the fish.

Melafix is only an eternal antiseptic treatment and won't be any good for your corys problem.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck.

Corys don't tolerate salt to well so don't add the full dose of salt.

Thank you it does help!
Do you know the names of any internal bacteria medication?
It would have to be shrimp safe since they are in the tank too

Start a thread in tropical discussion asking for good internal bacterial medications in Australia. Tryed
a search myself but didn't fetch anything up much.

Not sure on the shrimp I only know not to use parasites medications with them in the tank.
But I think you can use bacterial medications with them in the tank. But I would check it out first.

You can buy tetracycline in Australia but it will wipe the good bacteria out in your filter.

Aqua-Cure Tetracycline Tablets
*Active Constituents: 400mg Tetracycline HCl per tablet

How are your corys doing?
Did you manage to find a medication?
