Hardiest Fish

lol, i think some of you are taking this to the next level. walking fish? surviving extreme conditions? What are these animals?! Seriously, a fish that hardy is too hardy. My simple question was that if goldfish were the hardiest fish! Thanks for all opinions. It seems everytime I start a topic we get a big debate...I like it!!

Your question was extremely vague and unspecific. If you want to know what the hardiest fish is, first you have to define hardy. What precisely do you mean by "hardy"?

Hardy under what circumstances? Hardy for cycling a tank? Hardy in a well cycled tank? Hardy in hard or sort water? Hardy in the sense of gets few diseases, coping with polluted water, or hardy as in physically tough?

We're trying to answer your question but not getting very far. Everyone has different water and different tanks and consequently has very different experiences of fish that get sick or die apparently easily.

Snakeheads rule  They can be kept in any water, hard or soft. They can tolerate ammonia and nitrite levels that would wipe out any other fish, they very rarely get sick, if a disease is in a tank then the snakehead will be the last one to get it, if at all. Put on top of that some species of snakehead practice brood care as good as any cichlids and will even attack humans to protect their young and you have one very hardy fish.

Laurel fish? Are they Hardy? lol, get it, Laurel and Hardy?! I crack myself up :D
